NEW ZEALAND WARRIORS – Braydon Trindall (Sharks)
The Warriors have no obvious heir to Shaun Johnson’s No. 7 jersey following his retirement and need to make that their priority come November 1. Luke Metcalf and Te Maire Martin loom as their best options in the halves next season, but their best position is five-eighth. Meanwhile, Chanel Harris-Tavita has developed more into a dummyhalf option in recent years and hasn’t kicked on as an NRL playmaker. The Warriors should be looking to go hard for Sharks playmaker Braydon Trindall to play halfback and reunite him with former Cronulla teammate Metcalf and build the team around them. The Sharks have Daniel Atkinson and Trindall on their books and can’t keep both, so the Warriors should go hard for Trindall and see if they can pry him away from the Shire to be their main man on a long-term deal.
