It was a Parra home game, so (ticketed) members did get in... but as part of their membership, not for free.

There was a healthy contingent of Bunnies fans in the Burrow (or whatever they're called) plus ANZ Stadium members in their area. Probably would only have been about 15-18K Parra fans there?

No trains running to Olympic Park station would have been a limiting factor to the crowd
. I know my old man (a STH) was one that couldn't make it down due to timings.

Having said that, I thought it was a good crowd turn out considering how sh*t we've been going this season....

only a very minimal impact.

The bus service that replaced the trains was more comprehensive, ie buses from parra station when you cant actually catch a train from Parramatta to homebush.

Actually, when Parra play Brissy up here later in the year, I'll bet it will be the biggest crowd Parra play in front of in the regular season.

The answer is simple.... People have gotten off the bandwagon.

I'm guessing those true supporters who missed the game would have been bitterly disappointed to miss Hindy's big day and would have pretty good reasons for missing it!

Bunnies fans (and Parra Fans not living at Parra) had to get their buses from North Strathfield.

Call it minimal if you want to be a pednant, but when people whose lives aren't based on the internet hear word there is "trackwork", it can influence their choices even if the disruption is "minimal". I know it took me an extra half hour than it usually would, and I live quite close to the joint.

Well Brisbane does have the best ground and the best transport :D

Still, I'd be busting my arse off to get to the game for Hindy. Pretty sure we'll see the GF in Brissy after 2012
By the sound of it we may as well play all nrl games at brisbane sounds like everything there is perfect :lol:

Bitterly disappointed would be putting things mildly :(:(

I thought that is a pretty decent summary Bart.
No trains certainly played a part in a lesser attendance, without doubt.
It certainly did not stop the very keen going, but the fan that was wavering whether to go or not may well have been put off by the transport arrangements.

I thought it was a good crowd under the circumstances, and it was over 4000 more that could have been at Parra, so for those saying it should have been at Parra Stadium, there's 4000 that would otherwise have been locked out.
There was a terrific atmosphere today, and this is further proof that the big games should be taken there without doubt.

My exact point, trains are alot of peoples main form of transport to footy games, having them not running for this game cost us around 5-7k

Sounding a bit touchy Bart? I'm not being a 'pednant', just saying I dint think the lack of trains had a big impact on the crowd, especially when you've got people getting direct transport from Parramatta that you wouldn't normally get - and Merrylands as well.

I'm not sure we would have got more than 25k anyway. I thought it was a good crowd and looked a decent size by kick off.

Can you blame them? Why would people go the way the team are playing?! I didn't make the drive up from Wolllongong today - i've done it four times this year and i wasn't going to waste my time and money on another dismal performance.

In the end, i had a sleep in, watched the footy shows this morning, washed the cars, went for a 10km run along the beach and watched the game on TV.

Given the standard of the game, and the horror ground they were playing at, i am happy with my decision.

If the game had been at Parra Stadium, i may have been swayed into going..

Not all our fans are from parramatta and merrylands. Trains did hurt the crowd figure by a few thousand. but do agree it was still a crowd i think that is a respectful figure for hindy.

Sure Fishy, that might have been the case. But we live in Sydney, and Sydney people aren't used to decent public transport.
It's train, drive or nothing.
We DO NOT have a bus mentality in this city, not from the west anyway. Those from the east might, where they actually have a decent service.
I'm with Bart on this one. The public transport system actually cost us a decent crowd today.
In saying that, this was Parra's home game. Don't think we would have got 25 000 there. Does anyone else? :sarcasm:

Considering ticketed members from ALL clubs were invited to the game for free 25 thousand isn't good enough. Even if every Souths ticketed member came to the game we should have got 25k. That's why I don't get everyone complaining that there aren't enough sunday games. Here's a situation with one game in Sydney this afternoon, ticketed members from all the other 7 clubs in Sydney can attend without paying and still only get 25k. Obviously trains being down was a factor but still. If neautral fans are whingeing there's not enough afternoon games, then show we deserve them by going to one.

It's academic anyway because you or I cant prove or disprove. Personally, I thought it was great having the bus direct from Parramatta. I know people that live further west and today because it was just a matter of catchinh one train and stepping onto a bus.

but do agree it was still a crowd i think that is a respectful figure for hindy.

Just a shame so many people left, and that Mark Warren was taking up half his limelight.

Perhaps it was the lack of a bus mentality, not the transport system that cost us? ;-)

I reckons if we went in to the game today 4-1 rather than 1-4, the crowd would have been bigger and we wouldnt even be talking about this.

TBH, if Trent Barrett or Steve Menzies was breaking a club record for their respective clubs, I wouldn't be any be any more inclined to go with a free entry.
