This is the official side:

Luke Bailey (St George Illawarra), Trent Barrett (St George Illawarra), Danny Buderus (Newcastle), Petero Civoniceva (Brisbane), Joel Clinton (Penrith), Michael Crocker (Sydney Roosters), Craig Fitzgibbon (Sydney Roosters), Chris Flannery (Sydney Roosters), Bryan Fletcher (Souths), Matthew Gidley (Newcastle), Craig Gower (Penrith), Scott Hill (Melbourne), Justin Hodges (Sydney Roosters), Ben Kennedy (Newcastle), Brett Kimmorley (Cronulla), Darren Lockyer (Brisbane), Anthony Minichiello (Sydney Roosters), Matt Orford (Melbourne), Matt Sing (North Queensland), Cameron Smith (Melbourne), Timana Tahu (Newcastle), Brent Tate (Brisbane), Shaun Timmins (St George Illawarra), Trent Waterhouse (Penrith), Shane Webcke (Brisbane).

What does Luke Lewis have to do to get a spot in the centres? I mean Tate has barely played a game of football in 12 months and I wouldn't say he had a particularly good game against the Tigers either.

From the bottom of our black Kiwi hearts, thank you for not selecting Nathan Hindmarsh. How relieved are we!

Has Robbie Kearns retired from rep footy?

Is Steve "Mr Consistency" Price unselectable?

Halla-f*ckin-looyah, no Nathan Hindmarsh. Rip into them Gulavao, Wiki, Puletua and co.

OK my response to the squad

Luke Bailey - Fair enough, he's played quite well this year
Trent Barrett - OK without being spectacular, and definately not the form 5/8th ATM.
Danny Buderus - Form hooker, if not form player. Picks himself
Petero Civoniceva - Not my choice. Hasn't played all that well. Trying to appease the QRL?
Joel Clinton - Good choice and being from the premiers was always going to be picked ahead of others playing just as well
Michael Crocker - No. I'm sorry, but no.
Craig Fitzgibbon - Picks himself, very consistent and talented.
Chris Flannery - He's played what, one game this season? No time to assess form.
Bryan Fletcher - Has been playing quite well, despite his tendency to whinge about everything
Matthew Gidley - No. Start to the season has been average, others have been playing better
Craig Gower - Good choice and I hope he starts ahead of Kimmorley
Scott Hill - Haven't seen him in action this year so can't comment
Justin Hodges - Has the talent if he can control his temper
Ben Kennedy - BK and Buderus hold the Knights together, always a strong performer
Brett Kimmorley - I personally don't think he's been that good. Would have gone for Sherwin personally
Darren Lockyer - World's best player. No contest.
Anthony Minichiello - In good form so far this season, deserves his spot.
Matt Orford - Haven't seen him in action this year so can't comment
Matt Sing - Again, been playing OK but others have performed better
Cameron Smith - Haven't seen him in action this year so can't comment
Timana Tahu - Average average average all the way
Brent Tate - Another of the one-gamers. Doesn't deserve to be picked ahead of others.
Shaun Timmins - Very average this year, possibly utility value got him across the line.
Trent Waterhouse - Playing OK this year, but not spectacular.
Shane Webcke - One of the toughest props in the game, but getting on a bit.

Positives:
No Phil Bailey
10 out of 15 clubs represented
Good all round strength

Negatives:
A little weak in the centres
Players who have played one ordinary game selected over those who have played three very good games
Brett Kimmorley, Matt Gidley, Timana Tahu
No decent utility player. Preston Campbell would have been perfect for the role.
Two of the most in-form props at the moment, Steve Price and Luke Davico, left out.

Just my thoughts, don't expect others to agree with them.

I think they copied and pasted the side from last year and added a few more names to make it look like they had picked the side on form

No Willie Mason, who played in our last 4 tests! I wonder why????

No Villasanti? I wonder why???

No Hindmarsh! Ridiculous.

Hill and Barrett have talent, but havent used it due to injury in 12 months. Feel for Preston on that one.

And am i right. Has Matt Sing been selected ahead of Luke Rooney and Luke Lewis?! Fair dinkum!!!!

Feel for Davico, Kearns and Price (to an extent) with Petro getting there spot

Happy with the selection of Orford and Smith from Melbourne.

Why is everyone here so anti- kimmorley? Sure, he's one of the players that you love to hate, and his Chris Anderson relationship is a bit obvious, but he is still a top player. Every time that he has been called on to replace Johns for Ausralia or NSW he has done a top job. Just look at the GB series. He pretty much carried that team play-making wise, and was the only one who really took responsibility for the team, and played a captain-like role( no disrespect to Lockyer). If you look at all of the halfbacks in contention, they all play for relatively succesful teams, whereas Kimmorley doesn't. If Kimmorley was playing in a team that was consistently winning, and in the top 6, he would look better too. Just look at Gower, 12 months ago, he wouldn't have even been considered for NSW, and only City if he was lucky. But ever since the Panthers have improved, he is considered one of the best in the competition. I am not a Kimmorley fan, in fact, I don't really like him, but you got to give credit where it's due, and Kimmorley is deserving of it

I'm pretty sure Kearns has retired from rep footy, but Davico and Price are head and shoulders ahead of Civoniceva. Petero is there on reputation alone as are a vast majority of the side selected.

It looks like Flannery has been selected in that role. Is able to cover a lot more positions than Preston.

I just hope we end up with a better pair of halves than the last test series.
