Singo is smart because he accepts the reality that the Newtown Jets are a minor player in this process. So instead of making demands, he is offering support i.e. "what can we do for you Perth consortium". He's looking at the Jets long term survival anyway, as more NRL clubs indicate a preference to have their own reserve grade sides.

The Bears on the other hand are a minor player but with their "non-negotiables" and "220k members" shtick are acting as if they are a major player. And are making demands about playing games out of a 10k suburban ground, instead of fully committing to their host city.

I know what minor player I would be listening to more.

Make no mistake, it's the NRL, Perth consortium and WA Government that are the major stakeholders in this process. Not second-tier NRL clubs.

North Sydney oval . You would see
Bigger crowds at North Sydney oval than crowds at Perth HBF stadium

I’d say Manly is sufficient for the north side of Sydney harbour.

Just pointing out how 32k “Facebook Memberships” for the Bears really counts for 1/5th of SFA.
Maybe look at the population and wealth of the north shore of Sydney ?

good place to start

Starts at the northern end of the harbour bridge all the way out to Asquith to the north and lane cove, then east across military rd taking in Mosman to the southern edge of the spit bridge

A pity that none of that relates to Perth. If they had 200k fans Vlandys would give them a license on the Central Coast.

It only has 8k seats and a current capacity of 10k. Perth will make double or triple $ playing in Perth.

The main advantage for Perth of partnering with Bears is away crowds (and members) in Sydney. This benefits the team by having some crowd support to get behind them, but most importantly it benefits the Sydney clubs by having an extra couple of thousand Bears fans at games v Perth. It mean that games v Manly will be a sellout rather than their smallest of the season. Fans will come out of the woodwork, especially for finals. An extra $50k - $150k revenue per game v Perth is a good reason for PVL and the Sydney clubs to push for Perth Bears.

By way of example, the Swans/Lions away crowds in Melbourne are 10k & 5k higher than the average of the other six non Victorian AFL teams. So surely the Bears could bring 1k - 5k to games (depending on venue).

The Jets give Perth bid some leverage over Bears. Jets are not asking for anything, they are offering their branding and pathways. The positives of Bears is more fans. The negative is games at NSO.

Best outcome is a Perth offer to take on Bears branding and pathways, with ownership and all games in WA. Maybe one Bears seat on the board. This would be very similar to when Brisbane took the branding and some players from Fitzroy in 1996 - a takeover rather than a merger.

They will just do minor renovations to get it back to 20k
