The Reds had a winning percentage of 41.4%
The Rams had a winning percentage of 35.4%
If they were closest to "making a dollar" it was likely that they had a better flight and accommodation arrangement than The Reds.
I have no idea how manageable The Rams rent agreement was, but weren't they evicted from the Adelaide Oval
Plus a cheaper team

Perth had a decent side back then

It's the very reason the AFL plonked clubs on the Gold Coast and Western Sydney, while ignoring Tasmania as long as they could, and then making the latter jump through hoops no bid has ever had to before.
That’s correct. Tasmania adds nothing either for crowds or ratings or footprint really. Expansion requires vision and some bravery. Some here can’t see beyond Balmain or Logan. Expansion cowards.

I slightly disagree. It comes down to who can get a foothold there first.

When they lost Newcastle they were desperate

I don't think any of those inner city clubs would've got a run. South's in the 90's weren't the South's today. Manly & Bulldogs were the powerhouses. If superleague got Manly (which was never going to happen) superleague might still be around.

Zero comps

only reason they went was hoping dragons would get killed off

same with Penrith and the eels

They were a stronger club. Same with Bulldogs & panthers. Look at UK superleague & those who supported Toronto & are speaking to Phil Gould. Ambitious clubs are the successful ones.

how were the sharks ambitious lol

they were brought in to stop St George when they were winning 11 straight and that’s it

How were they travelling in the 90's?!

Listen to Graeme Hughes speech at Bulldogs meeting from that time. Stronger clubs felt weaker teams were holding game back. Clubs like balmain, roosters, magpies & South's were stuck to bottom of ladder. Seemed like all would go way of the jets. Of course Super league made people realise importance of rivalries.

They couldn’t get any good Sydney clubs except the dogs so they took Penrith and Cronulla

Cronulla have been basically broke until five years ago

Cronulla and Penrith knew if Sydney clubs were going to be rationalised they would go because they couldn’t compete with big brother next door

you know saints agreed to go to super league later on

then they approached the roosters to go over

From memory St George was to join superleague but then choose arl. Penrith with its leagues club & nursery would've always been a target. Sharks were one of five clubs to meet admission criteria for 1995 comp.

Yeh sharks met criteria because all the money news ltd were pumping into them was counted

South’s and Gold Coast actually should’ve ranked ahead of sharks. Gold Coast had like one million the bank. South’s had some sponsor who wasn’t counted for some reason

saints were arl they almost went over until John raper went crazy af sharks leagues club I think and they stayed loyal

Melbourne cannot support a second team.

Victoria doesn't have 8 million people. At the moment it is less than 7 million.

PNG will be an absolute f**king disaster in every way. Your refusal to acknowledge any of the points about its shortcomings sums up the futility of trying to reason with you.
Then don't bother dipshìt...

And if WA can support 1 team, Vic can support 2 teams, both are afl run cities, the population in each can handle more sides.. your just too parochial towards RL heartlands to see it..
