They have selected a squad of 15 for the world cup.

Ideally to win a world cup you want a good prep e.g a 7 game series against a top team. In the prep phase you want to use your 15 WC players to get some form together? right???

Ok.. so.... why is it so... that in a squad of 15 players we can not field a team during a one day game that is not too far away from the world cup.?

I dont know, I might not be seeing the full picture here, but wouldnt you want to select a squad of 15 players that are 1) Fit and 2) in form? And would you not want these 15 players to all atleast be fit for a 7 game series that is meant to be part of the preperation for the WC?

A bit silly if you ask me.

I agree with that to a point but Mike Hussey is so valuable I can understand including him... Sean Marsh is his standby player hence you can understand why he is playing this match.. they obviously feel there is a reasonable risk Hussey won't make it so at least want Marsh having some games under his belt in case... That all said they should have both been in the squad alongside Ferguson and Hodge with D Hussey, M Clarke and take your pick of Ponting and Smith sitting at home.

Back to the game.. 230 is defendable, but jeese our bowlers will need to bowl good.. And well we all know a few of them can be quite expensive...
