First confirmed quarter final match

Starts 2.30pm AEDT THURSDAY

India should win this well. Hopefully Bangers can make a game of it

Heres hoping bangers put p a better fight in the quarters than SL

Showers forecast from 3 or 4pm for a few hours in the afternoon into the evening

Looks like a reduced over match, which could help Bangladesh

Might pay to field first and just bowl your top 4 bowlers?

Not sure what went wrong with the Sri Lankans - Bangladesh should put together a tidy performance, but India have probably been the tournament's best team and they will cruise here, I reckon

As much as I'd like it to happen, I can't see a Bangers upset if we get a full game in. Hopefully India have an off day.

All finals games have a reserve day.

Therefore, the match is a full 50-overs/side until bad weather occurs on the reserve day (if required) which doesn't allow a full match to be completed by the end of the reserve day. Last World Cup match that used a reserve day was the Australia vs West Indies Super 8 match in 2007.

If a result cannot be achieved by end of reserve day (e.g. team batting 2nd doesn't get the minimum 20 overs which would allow Duckworth-Lewis to constitute a match/result), then India will go through as they finished higher in their pool than Bangladesh. In the QFs and SFs, the team that finished higher advances through to the next stage, but if the Final is washed out, both teams are declared co-winners. That's so unfair. Imagine if a semi-final was held in Brisbane during the time last month when there was torrential weather and the Australia vs Bangladesh got washed out... sucks for the team who finished lower, given they are completely denied the opportunity to even play the game. I always feared this could be a possibility at the next World Cup in England, which is renown for it's crap weather. There has to be a result, and I think in that case the game should be rescheduled to another venue which can host the match ASAP.

Imagine the huge outcry there'd be if that rule was applied in the NRL finals (e.g. Broncos finished 1st, had a home prelim final at Suncorp and then heavy flooding before the match rendered the match untenable to be played, and therefore Broncos advanced straight to the Grand Final as a result of that)?

As much as I'd like it to happen, I can't see a Bangers upset if we get a full game in. Hopefully India have an off day.
