The captain and / or coach need take huge responsibility for this debacle. They obviously set out to overpower Australia, thereby not playing the game that got them to be the where they are now. I have rarely seen Kallis charge a bowler, even on a flat track with a ball doing nothing once he has his eye in. Here, he is in for bugger-all time, against the new ball, after an early wicket, has not gotten set, and charged McGrath. Acting under instructions and failing dismally. Smith tried to lead from the front, but he failed too.

Fail to see why he is consistently considered one of the best umpires in the world. THere is so much wrong with him. Not just bad decisions. His philosophy on the game (wanting TV for LBWs); giving batsmen the chance to walk (if the bowler appeals, the bloody umpire has a responsibility to answer out or not out), etc
