2nd Test: Australia v India D/N @ Adelaide Oval Dec 6-10, 2024

Would love to have Neser for a match like this if he were fit, as pink ballers tend to be fairly low scorers so having an 8/9 who can chip in with 30-40 runs would be invaluable. Would probably look to Abbott for as his replacement though. Would probably also give Webster a debut if Marsh cannot bowl

If it's Abbott I can't wait for the tears from other states if another NSWelshman makes the team.

I think it will be Boland. He's in form and pretty good in Australian conditions.

Plodand will play.

Bailey/McDonald have always been conservative.

It's a major worry the backup quick is 35 years of age.

I would be picking Abbott personally but may be that's my NSW bias coming through.

Spencer Johnson is worth a punt imo if Starc does goes down.

What's Boland's record with the pink ball? My guess is Abbott has an advantage there.

So we can guarantee that side won’t be picked? Interested in some of the new names…. Are there good prospects coming through? Pretty much the whole team is over 30, and adding Boland is understandable now, but what is the future?

Funnily enough i think our bowling will be fine

Todd Murphy replaces Lyon, and IMO has a bit more variation
We could also have Tanveer Singh come in, huge potential and is a leggie.

One or two of Xavier Bartlett, Spencer Johnson or Lance Morris will have long test careers
They have good FC records and obviously need to play more Red ball
Might be after ashes till they get a run or established. All mid 20s

I think Jack Edwards in a year or two can be an ideal Cam Green replacement when Green is out injured
Beau Webster seems likely now

Our main issues moving forward is top 4 batting. Really is no one of note coming through, that is under 30, and averaging over 40 in FC cricket

Openers are the worry. I think McSweeney can be a solid 3. Green at 4 long term. I reckon there's enough in the middle order in Shield cricket that we can fill 5 & 6 with someone who will make it work. Ollie Davies has been very good at times for eg. Webster has a few years in him if he continues to score. With Green we don't need an all rounder at six anyway, and the Trav has time in him too

I can't see Webster's dibbly dobblers worrying test level players. Probably don't really need a 5th bowler in a pink ball test. I'd go Inglis ahead of him, but even on batting ability alone it's a tight call between the two.

I'd prefer Nesser over Boland

Nesser gets way more movement than Boland who is a line and length type of bower who I don't think will bother the Indians as much as Nesser will.

Horses for courses.

Right. Game day. Reset time.

My predictions: we win the toss and bat.

Khawaja falls early given out hit the ball twice. Labs and Sweeno then put on a 200 run partnership with Sweens scoring his maiden test ton.

Labs goes on with it, at the declaration he is 167 no and has consumed 27 toasties. Smith is not out 11 off 87 balls, Australia 2/302 Dec.

India are 7 for 4 at stumps.
