Final day was a dud advertisement for this format really.
Good drama but boring action. Aussies missed Pattinson big time.
Whatever way you look at it Australia scoring 550 off 110 overs really counts for nothing after all that
I suppose the next step is 540 (6rpo) in a day
But one has to understand - cricket is an English game. The English create games that are designed to be levellers- regardless of how good you are: ie in League: you might be Todd Carney, but you still have to take a hitup, and theres 13 other men between you and the line. and in the case for cricket: Michael Clarke can smash 2 double centuries in consecutive test matches and get no overalll win from either match because his men couldnt bowl the other team out in the allotted time for a score far less than his team's
If you want a game where its all just winning and losing: go watch an American game like baseball, gridiron, basketball or UFC
Agreed, today was a war of arrition but this is what test cricket is all about. If watching Siddle pounding in that last few overs when he was on empty did not inspire you Test cricket is not for you.LMFAO - sweet, go watch 20/20 then

this. I really think this match was something else. You couldn't have scripted a contest to pan out this way, but then we had this. The only thing you could predict is that whoever won the toss would bat first. So much happened in each day of the match and a result always seemed certain, it seemed like there was always going to be a winner of this match (I believe that draws are results), but when the odds became stacked too high against South Africa, they pulled something entirely out of left field because they decided that not losing was more important than winning and so this giant stone wall went up and it broke the backs of the Australians. Run fests aren't test cricket. This is test cricket and it is beautiful.Agreed, today was a war of arrition but this is what test cricket is all about. But it does say plenty about the great job Clarke has done since taking over from Ponting.I tend to agree, how this bunch of nuffies can even get in the situation of challenging for no 1 is beyond me, compare then to our team of about 7 years ago who were on a different level
doesn't say much for the rest of world cricket imo
agreed, Clarkie is carrying the team atm, we just cant get 20 wickets to back him up
I might have agreed with the home/away argument for Clarke if not for that brilliant 150 in South Africa last year.
While Clarke has been brilliant, surely part of the reason for that at home is the roads that he's batting on? That also explains the inability of your attack to get 20 wickets... Clarke's career average at home is 65... away 40... doesn't that say something?? Hussey similar at 60 and 42....
and the right player got MoM, no question
newsflash
the other 19 batsmen batted on the same pitches, even the saffas, none of them made double tons
Clarke is carrying the team
He's clearly a better play than he was, but has a bit to prove outside Aust, and on pitches offering something to bowlers...
Matthew Sinclair also scored a brilliant 150 in RSA :sarcasm:
