Any player that can't handle the "demands" of T20 cricket should have their contract torn up. You bowl a maximum of 4 overs, and on average face about 20-30 deliveries if you are the best batsman in your side.

It has to be the least physically demanding team sport this side of curling.

You can do a serious injury on your first warm up bowl in the nets.

It's all down to luck. But the more meaningless cricket they play and the more they train for short bursts the less their body can take extended periods of activity.

Tests are marathons, T20s are sprints. In the olympics do the sprinters and marathon runners compete in both? Of course not. Our bodies are best trained to do one kind of physical activity. When you try to do different things from day to day and week to week you're more likely to get injured.

All of our first choice quicks and all of our veteran incumbent batsmen should not be playing limited overs cricket.
How do you stop your chin from hitting the keyboard?
I have a special load bearing crane installed in my room that has been modified to help the chin defy gravity. I got it from the same place Mark Gasnier got his.

you are talking out of your ass Johnson >>> daylight >> siddle
Not Siddles biggest fan but  @ that statement, Johnson is a tail end minnow basher, He looked world class in one series against South Africa and the odd Perth test but a test average of over 31 pretty much sums him up. Inconsistant softcock.

f**k you're an idiot. Just because its a shorter version of the game doesn't mean bowlers bowl faster in it.

Like South Africa?

If Johnson focused on batting instead of bowling he'd be a far superior version of shane watson, not least of all because he wouldn't have any ego problems batting at 6 or 7

Mitch doesn't have ego problems?:lol:

The last time he played SA his performance with the bat was shameful.

They can also injure themselves tripping over a kid's toy on Xmas, but like getting injured bowling 4 overs the chances are pretty damned slim so shouldn't be stressed over

Cricket in any form does not even come close to comparing to marathons, sprints, or any form of athletics really. They spend 90% of the day ambling around waiting for the next delivery, and only occasionally, with even the hardest worked bowler doing what essentially equates to 100 odd 20-30m 90% effort sprints over the course of 6 hours.

There really is no good reason they should be breaking down as often as the Australian team does. Other sportsmen must laugh at how brittle they are. Baseball pitches particularly would piss themselves listening to a cricket bowler complain about their workload.

All of our first choice quicks and all of our veteran incumbent batsmen should not be playing limited overs cricket.

Why? They have done it for 30 years without many problems up until the last 4-5 years, at least without any constant whinging and sooking by medicos about how "tough" cricket is on the players.

Clearly there is just something wrong with their preparation considering our current crop breakdown constantly while other sides don't tend to have these issues.

T20 though is played in a time where otherwise bowlers could be improving their conditioning for longer form bowling. It also sees bowlers warm up, bowl 1-2 overs, warm up bowl cool down warm up etc. Combined with having to alter their delivery stride, position on the crease they are bowling from etc it lends itself to causing problems, particularly with young fast bowlers.

It's not so much the workload as bowling all over the place that can cause problems, particularly with bowlers in the key stress fracture age (up to about 24). It's a time they should be building their fitness base, running and bowling consistent overs with a strong action to prepare themselves for bowling long overs, which they dont get when involved in T20 competitions. As McGrath said - you cant build strength during the season, you need a solid base via a preseason and players miss this when involved in T20 and go on to break down.

STILL not over. Mathews is on 30 and Sandwichkarra is on 26. If these two both get 100s it's game on.

Seriously this game will more likely end this session. Kumar and Jawadnene won't bat and Welegandra would be long odds as well.
