Shame that this is probably going to be a draw. Good to see a much better batting performance and Warner performing in Asia.

I really like the look of that top 4 for the Aussies going forward.

Renshaw and Warner have that contrast that compliment each other, Smith is class regardless of the situation, and Handscomb has that mix of graft but stil able to rotate the strike and put away the bad ball that can adapt to whatever the situation is.

After that though it turns into a circus.

I reckon Khawaja is a must, but at 4. Yeah some muppets wank on about his limited performances in Asia, but at his best he is an excellent player. Enigmatic, sure, and sometimes he looks lazy but worth carrying given we don't have a lot waiting in the wings.

Handscomb to 5, I really think he's a classic number 4/5 bat and he adds a toughness to the middle of the lineup.

I like Cartwright, I think he deserves a go at the very least.

It's not a champion top 6, but it's certainly capable. And I don't think chopping and changing has helped us at all, all it does it place constant pressure on players to keep their spots and add pressure to the weaker spots in the order. Pick 6 and stick with them, at least for a series or three.

I've always thought Khawaja would be better suited down at 5/6 in tests. His natural instincts are to go after the bowling, but a lot of the time he doesn't look too sure how to go about it. I think sitting back for a bit and coming in with a clear situation in front of him at 5/6 would help him.

Handscomb is sort of like a Waugh hybrid. Gritty, but not as gritty as Steve, fluent/elegant but not as fluent/elegant as Mark. Just somewhere in the middle of the two.

Yeah that could be an option too. He certainly seems like the kind of bat who would enjoy coming in at 3/200 if we were to get that sort of start.

I don't think we can afford to leave a batsman like Khawaja out, we simply don't have anyone of the same calibre waiting for his spot. He's too inconsistent to be a great test bat, but his best is certainly at that level.

I'm stealing that line and claiming it as my own. Take a bow sir.

But I heard Lehmann say this morning he'd 'answered his critics'.

Maybe he technically did, but those answers were evasive and meaningless and just raised more questions....

Did he really say that??? What a laughable comment. So he makes a dismissal most keepers would get and it's time to get out the wet wipes. FFS!!! Gee they set the bar for the little plank so low.

Perhaps there was more to the quote? Maybe he was cut off mid sentence and it was actually 'he's answered his critics, and his answer is an emphatic 'I am not good enough for test cricket''.

Remember that time we had a wicket keeper who could bat with the tail.
Sure back then we had to walk to school, up hill both ways, bare foot as shoes weren't invented yet. yada yada...
I mean who does Wade have to kill to get dropped from the squad? Evidence left at the scene of the crime would be a fumbled cricket ball, a barely used bat, gloves and a cane!

Shame about Handscombe missing the century, he deserved it for hanging tough. Rotten way to get out, he'll learn from that though.

Wade is a joke, when has he ever made a meaningful contribution with the bat? I remember him getting a big 100 in a ODI a while ago when we were looking down the barrel but outside of that, I can't remember anything

Didn't we all know? Wade brings so much more to the team off the field. Is A very positive and motivating character off the field, you can't measure that sort of thing...
