I don't think we're stuffed..I thought the toss was worth about 80 runs on a low scoring deck. Just need to keep the self belief going...and drop MMarsh for a batsman.

We lost a couple of big moments in this test and that proved the difference. Smith dropped Pujara for not much and he ended up scoring 90.

Win one of the final 2 tosses and we're in with a good shout imo. Our batsman have shown enough against spin.

You guys have absolutely not the faintest clue if you don't think Australia have done extremely well overall so far. You are kidding. It's India in India. They have won their last 20 matches at home before this.

Haha....what on earth made you think I disagree with that? Pop the tampon back in laddie....

We've done better than expected, no doubt about it, just a shame we came close in this test and may not get another look in from here.

Hopefully that's not the case..

Just whingers who would still find something to complain about if Australia won everything.

I don't think I've seen anyone say that we haven't done well.

We won the first game by a massive margin..and we lost what appeared to be a crucial toss in this match and we made a serious game of it. I think we've done enough to show that we can more than compete with bat and ball for the final 2 matches.

Mmarsh's selection is even more baffling in hindsight. I thought we were gonna get a high number of overs from him at 135k to somewhat justify taking a gamble with him. Instead he bowls an average of 2 overs of military mediums per innings.

Australia played well, the surface was an absolute nightmare but regardless India were very nervous for most of that, to the point of mad desperation not to be humiliated further at home.

It was one of those games where one lost session ruins everything, for you it was losing the rest of the tail with a better lead beckoning, and then Pujara and Rahane getting just far enough ahead. Anything < 100 as the final chase was never going to happen on this ridiculous pitch.

Cracking test match and India being made to sweat, I hope Australia don't fall away now and give them more to gloat about because India are nowhere near as good as they think they are.

I'd love to jag one more win. I think we're capable....keep the trophy, that'll shut em up

Haha nah of course they've done well. It was a mud pitch in the first test but they dismantled them. Thats why this loss is so disappointing, India will be incredibly hard to stop now

Sick of hearing all the India is overrated and Australia is overrated shit, just enjoy the fact that we just witnessed an enthralling test match.. every session was contested and each team won and lost the game probably a couple of times each.

Great contest imo

It has to happen, it's utterly ludicrous India were able to schedule a home season like this to begin with to skew rankings and averages. Add to that the excessive appealing, send-offs, dissent, they've been made immune.

I don't mind home advantage, I didn't have much problem with this particular pitch, but I recall one against South Africa that was a disgrace. It needs to even out, there need to be equal 0-8 tours for India to reset the stats and gloating.

Kohli is indeed a merkin.

I can only conclude that he must have watched a lot of Steve Waugh's 'Untouchables' and Punter's 'Merkinators' growing up.

Must have learnt such bad sportsmanship from somewhere!

You don't exactly have to look too far in India in cricket to find plenty of bad sport merkins as role models

Maybe we are a bit meh towards the selectors, not so much the team. I know I personally feel that we've done exceptionally well considering our idiot selectors have only picked 9 players out of 11. But we should be ahead 2-0, so meh. I don't have much faith that they will select the right team for the third test either. Meh, meh and more meh to come, most likely.

So Kholi accused Australia of cheating for 3 days with the DRS because we keep referring to the dressing rooms ?

Just saw his interview on Foxsports.

Nice bloke.

The difference really is MM and Smith's drop of Pujara.

Barely batted, barely bowled in two tests. Pujara went on to score some runs.

Australia need to put a bat in a 6...maybe one who can throw down a few overs. Smith should bowl a little too, just to change things up. Wade...bat...fmd too.

Anyway...the loss stings cause we were pretty close. I hope we can win another but they'll have to mix up the team imho.

Interestingly, Smith has said that while deliberating with Marsh on whether to review his (Marsh's) lbw or not, he said 'go' (meaning review it) and Marsh took that to mean 'walk', so he did. Replays showed he would have had the decision overturned had he reviewed the decision. This seems odd to me. Why didn't Smith just call him back when he started walking and ask for the review? And how is it that the language is so vague that Marsh is confused as to what his captain is instructing him to do?

Anyway, this series has a lot more spice to it than many were expecting. Obviously, we knew that there was potential for it to be tense...but many this is some good, close Test match cricket.

He said he should have just given the signal himself after Smarsh started walking. Easy for us, we're not in the heat of the moment with millions of people watching.
