He said he should have just given the signal himself after Smarsh started walking. Easy for us, we're not in the heat of the moment with millions of people watching.

Yes, for sure....but we're also not professional cricketers. This is what they do.

Its a minor point, but it sounds to me like Smith says 'go' when giving the green light to review a lot. Marsh doesn't seem to have picked that up.

An odd misunderstanding.

Tough loss. But once again a disgraceful pitch produced by India. M.Marsh and Smith all dismissed from deliveries that travelled below the bat. There were a couple on the India side as well.

Maxwell in for Marsh I'd think. I doubt they will play Khawaja at 6 down the order, and they won't re-shape the top 4 just because of his inclusion.

I doubt it would have affected the outcome so good lesson to learn there from Smith. Next time use clear language such as " Yes, Review it"
I'd suspect most of us would walk off when the Captain tells you to go.

Maxwell has a worst test record than MMArsh. I really dont even understand why he is on tour.

When we need someone to grind out a slow long innings I really dont see Maxwell fitting that bill.

Yeah well he certainly won't play a slow, long innings. Anything but.

I'm just calling it as our selectors would see it. They won't change the order dramatically. A straight swap for Marsh makes sense. Plus they get to keep an all-rounder!

I think if Oozie came in he would bat at 3 or 4 and Smarsh at 6. He has only made one score so I dont think he has really done much to hang on to the No 4 spot.

You seriously want use numbers here???

Maxwell has had THREE tests, batting 7, 8 and 3 - he's hardly had the luxury of making a spot his own like MMarsh, and has actually demonstrated that he's a decent first class cricketer

If they are adamant the #6 has to bowl then Maxwell is the only answer, unless Agar is up to it.

But generally I agree, unless the wicket is suggesting a lot of overs are needed then Khawaja should be in the top 6

Is there a good reason why FaulknerTheFinisher hasn't cut it at this level? Surely he's a more capable all-rounder than Levers and Toys

He's simply never been given a chance. One Test match in England, IIRC he got 60 odd runs (batting 8) and 6 wickets...then dropped and never seen again.

Personally I think Faulkner is the best all rounder we have...but at Test level he would have to bat 7. He's still not a 6. Given the obsession with the keeper batting 7, and the constant selection of a keeper who is number 11 worthy, I don't know that Faulkner would improve the side that much.

He's reasonably skiddy. I think he's around 135ks. I like Faulkner, I think he has plenty to offer. I think selectors have pigeon holed him as a slower ball bowler which is not what he bowls like in first class cricket. Hugely underrated IMO.

Bad luck Australia you almost had the match in your grasp but for crooked India's wicked pitch.
Surely M Marsh gets dropped. What is the point of having an all rounder when he is bowled sparely and bats like a number 11?
Your team was re-buliding nicely until the dopey selectors bought the Marsh bros back.
