Assuming Australia win this test the changes for the dead rubber 3rd test I'd like to see are...

IN: McGain (got to see what he can do at test level before Ashes)
Magoffin (seam bowler to replace Siddle)

OUT: McDonald (need to see what McGain can do)
Siddle (rest, don't want foot injury to get worse before Ashes)

Yeah I agree.

Replacing Siddle though it wouldnt bother me if it was Geeves/Magoffin or Bolly.

According to Robin Jackman the highlight of Morkel's morning is that "he has resisted the temptation to have a pull". Kepler confirmed "You can tell he's just itching to have a pull".

Much to my shame I can't help but snigger like a twelve year old at that.

Memo to Ricky Ponting: Simon Katich is your best part time tweaker. Jim Maxwell thinks so. Mark Nicholas thinks so. Steve Waugh thinks so. I think so.

Anyway, great result for the Aussies. I'd like to see McGain and Bollinger come in in Cape Town for Siddle and McDonald. If Hilfy is still hurting, bring Magoffin or Geeves in. No sense risking him.

I was really impressed by the workrate of Johnson and Siddle. Those were some monstrous spells they were bowling and I would really like to see a fourth proper bowler brought in so they don't die or something on the field.

I'm glad I'm not the only one

SA certainly have been giving it to us as some had prediceted, lol

what a rapid downhill spirall they are on

3 tests losses in a row now vs a very inexperienced bowling lineup, which cant take 20 wickets in a match ;-)

Got to be one of the finest series wins in recent times for Australia - against the odds etc, a great win by a distinctly not-great team.

As for Seth Effrika  SHAME, that was gutless, incompetent etc etc... Aust 3-0 now

Did the South Africans play any first class cricket upon their return from Australia? It looks like half of them have been playing more golf than cricket. I can't believe how poorly they have played here, a complete Jeckyll and Hyde act.

Good performance from Australia.

Yeah, they were also discussing the poor preparation they will have ahead of December's series against England.

It really was a huge turnaround by both sides.

Looks like the Saffers focused all their energies on the Auustralian series then didn't know what to do once they had accomplished what they had set out to do.

Unfortunately for them the series win down under now seems a long, long time ago (and it makes me smile :D).

the saffas played limited over games before the first test but so did Australia

and they played the first test in preparation for the second test, so did Australia

no excuses

oh, and on McDonald, 0-47, when the ball is not swinging he has nothing but 120 k pies, even Katich had more to offer

Agreed.

I guess we should give McGain a shot in the third Test although I've never felt he was the answer. I'd be just as happy to throw Dougy back in there.

...apparently all of them except for Dale Steyn will be playing domestic cricket before the Newlands test.
