Tbh I think it's because they're all 35-40 avg. Test players. The only exception being Warner who is a potential 45 avg.

So they're performing to their ability, or to what their first class records suggest.

When is the last time an Australian top order had 2 top 4 batsmen with career 1st class averages in the 30s. Literally a century ago?

Selectors keep on making awful decisions.

Haddin, Johnson (with bat and ball) and an awful England have papered over the cracks. But any time an opposition makes a good first innings total we'll always be at risk.

Can't believe we have Lyon bowl 46 overs picking up 5 wickets and then send him out in bad light to face half an hour of the best bowling line up in the world bowling 150k bouncers at him. And he stands his ground too - our batsmen need to have a good look at themselves. We need a bit of consistency and from our top order at the moment it's only Warner and smith giving us any. I'd almost be tempted to throw smith in at number 3 for a couple of games to see how he goes.
