Graham was dominant. He has gone up a level. Not just competing at nrl level, bossing it. Showed great aggression and leadership.

Stapleton was very strong. Some excellent takes under pressure. The intercept showed great confidence and anticipation. He actually moved forward which many wingers don't do.

Ross was also outstanding. Took the tough hit ups and showed aggression.

Our back 5 stood up and showed that getting to the position on the ladder that we currently are was no fluke!
With Ike probably being the quietest, the rest had excellent games!
Keep playing with the committment and resolve that they have(barring injury) and it would be hard to find a position atm for the likes of M Gordon, let alone Millsy!

Well I reckon we should play Mills instead of Ike, just for the fact that his speed will improve. Ike could have covered that winger for the Bronc's first try if he communicated better with Pomm. I just don't rate Ike, he doesn't do much and what he does is ordinary.

Anyway FWIW

Graham-3 Watched the game back at the hotel when I got home and Graham got smashed in a tackle in the second half and got up a bit slow. You can clearly hear the touchy ask if he was alright!! Graham shook his head and Laughed at him.

Ross 2 Loved him whispering sweet nothings into the Bronco's ear when the game was almost done and dusted. Make no bones about it, we got some heart this year and that will take us a long way.

Stapo-1 Gave us an a good adrenalin shot with that try, fired us all up!

Ike simply has one of the historic Sharks maladies. He's being played out of position. It can't be helped right now but that's the fact. The man is a fullback. It's the same Malady Matt Wright has been subjected to. It's the same malady Mills is being subjected to (he's a fullback as well). Stapo. The list goes on and on.

Michael Gordon, when he gets here, is needed more as a winger than a fullback and I hope the club hasn't made any promises to him in writing about where he will be playing.

It does make you wonder where all the specialist wingers are these days.

If they show some spark as kids, do they automatically go fullback now, so all the best are fullbacks and wingers are now the 2nd best?

Wing is now where you put the small kids. Kids who if they don't become hookers or halves don't make it.

Mini and Mod league rules don't help as the reduced on field numbers don't let kids "specialise" early enough IMO.

Wing is the hardest position to learn and the hardest position to teach. 90% of the battle is to have natural wing instincts which are rare. You can throw anyone a 2 or a 5 and they'll do some good things but they won't ever be wingers.

I also think you are kind of right about spark. Fullbacks generally show more spark and standout more in games. This leads to them being under the spotlight more which has the disadvantage of highlighting errors but also has the massive advantage of putting your name up in lights. Another old Sharks malady - flash is best.

I played wing a few games as a kid, i preferred it in defence than hooker, monstering the small ass kids when the tried to step round the solid kid felt really good.
but in attack i was useless, i only really had darty speed so i would get run down if i made a line break.
Thank god i made it as a hooker before my knee injury. If i had played all my games as a winger, i prob would have gave it up before my knee did.

Then again, maybe i wouldnt still have knee pain in winter.
