Bit harsh to judge him on one game mate.
I'm not.

Laugh at the people bagging Maloney. He was the only half involved most of the game.
If his kicking game was as good as usual we would have won.
Yeah, agree with this. When Johnson did kick last night it was good. Much better attacking kicks than Maloney. Other times, with ball in hand, looked like he was after the glory play rather than running the team. Can't fully blame Maloney/ Johnson needs to get far more involved. Seems they only ever kick long with Jimmy
Yeah, it was pretty close to immaculate, actually. Only recall one bad kick, and that was when we were stranded on our 30.A lot of criticism of Johnson, which I understand as he needs to be more involved and decisive, but his kicking game was immaculate wasn't it?
Johnson's kicking was superb.
On that last play, I think if Maloney spread it instead of kicked it, we would have been a better chance.
My exact thought as he kicked it. Spreading the ball to Brown and him grubbering through the line would've even been a better option, imo, and we all know there's a 66% chance Brown's going to find his opposite centre's legs.if Maloney spread it instead of kicked it, we would have been a better chance.
Or if there was a winger out there with some pace. On that note Tupou really flies under the radar by doing absolutely nothing.
For what it's worth, some stats...
Runs- Johnson 8 Maloney 2
Kick metres- Johnson 461 Maloney 468
Kicks- Johnson 12 Maloney 14
Missed Tackles- Johnson 2 Maloney 8
Not much mention of him but I thought Mateo was very strong again. Wasn't the night for too many offloads but he still ran strongly and threatened. His "knock-on" was a deadset strip by McGuire despite Hadley's ranting.
My bad, just watched that play again, and Brown wasn't out there. Locke, Henry, Tupou. Spreading the ball a much better option than kicking. My exact thought as he kicked it.
