Laugh at the people bagging Maloney. He was the only half involved most of the game.

If his kicking game was as good as usual we would have won.

He was straight up terrible, but thats alright because he was involved? (nevermind that his involvement was terrible) and he could have won us the game if he hadn't underperformed with his goal kicking as well?

Ok thats ok then. Ridiculous post.

3. Friend - This dude makes all the difference in the side. All of it.
2. Matulino - So good even that dipshit Hadley had to give him multiple wraps.
1. Locke - I'm sure he's still not 100%, but he's everywhere, and in everything. Showed up Hoffman which isn't an easy feat.

Can't fully blame Maloney/ Johnson needs to get far more involved. Seems they only ever kick long with Jimmy

A lot of criticism of Johnson, which I understand as he needs to be more involved and decisive, but his kicking game was immaculate wasn't it? The contrast between his kicking and Maloney's was huge. How bad were the attempts at a bomb and a grubber that Maloney put in towards the end? And then even on the last play, a perfect kick by Johnson and yet another stinker from Maloney. The bloke is a f**king gumby.

Yeah, agree with this. When Johnson did kick last night it was good. Much better attacking kicks than Maloney. Other times, with ball in hand, looked like he was after the glory play rather than running the team.

Seriously, why the hell didn't he pass to Matulino off Manu's bat back? Big Ben had nothing but the line in front of him. In the last fifteen, there were at least three instances when Johnson decided to float along the line and dummy, and so ran behind hole runners and generally got mixed up. At least twice, i think if he'd passed to Maloney, Maloney was a good chance of going through the line, or at least drawing defenders in for a productive offload.

Maloney wasn't good, but imo both halves were average.

I used to rate Maloney's goal kicking and his hole running. Now I only rate his hole running. He's a run of the mill goal kicker these days.

Yeah, it was pretty close to immaculate, actually. Only recall one bad kick, and that was when we were stranded on our 30.

Johnson's kicking was superb.

On that last play, I think if Maloney spread it instead of kicked it, we would have been a better chance.

Not much mention of him but I thought Mateo was very strong again. Wasn't the night for too many offloads but he still ran strongly and threatened. His "knock-on" was a deadset strip by McGuire despite Hadley's ranting.

Or if there was a winger out there with some pace. On that note Tupou really flies under the radar by doing absolutely nothing.

For sure. He kicked it to a spot where, if he'd had a look, he would've seen the Broncos defenders had it easily covered, despite their defensive line being totally scrambled across the park. Just a complete brain fade from a bloke with no real vision.

My exact thought as he kicked it. Spreading the ball to Brown and him grubbering through the line would've even been a better option, imo, and we all know there's a 66% chance Brown's going to find his opposite centre's legs.

For what it's worth, some stats...

Runs- Johnson 8 Maloney 2
Kick metres- Johnson 461 Maloney 468
Kicks- Johnson 12 Maloney 14
Missed Tackles- Johnson 2 Maloney 8

I've all but given up on bagging this bloke. We seem to be stuck with him and there's no motivation to drop him. I can't think of a more glaring example of a passenger who quite clearly does not have the athletic attributes to be effective at this level.

This also doesn't show how Johnson nailed almost all of his grubbers to the in-goal and found ground with his long kicks while Maloney was putting his bombs 3 metres over the sideline and grubbering for the stands.

Yep, Mateo would have been my honorable mention. Him and Packer.

My bad, just watched that play again, and Brown wasn't out there. Locke, Henry, Tupou. Spreading the ball a much better option than kicking.
