3-2-1 v Broncos

I was frustrated with Niukore too, but it seems pretty consistent with Webster’s gameplan that certain middles don’t take hit ups. Remember Bunty’s 20 min stints? Seems Niukore may be playing that role.

My point is not that Ford should be judged by how well he replaces Barnett. My point is that he isn’t a suitable replacement for Barnett, but nor do we have one. So, yeah, we are kinda agreeing here.
Yeah and he shouldn't be. I get it, but I suppose I read it as criticism of Ford rather than a lament of what we don't have to replace Barnett. I think sometimes we forget that most, if not all sides don't have anything substantial to replace Origin talent. If any of the 34 game-day Origin players go down, their club suffers. And to be fair, we suffer less than we have in the past where if we lost a key position player, we were royally f**ked. We were still a top 8 team without Barnett. And probably without Metcalf and CNK. I get the argument that this might have more to do with the quality of the comp, but we have pretty good depth across the board.

To me, Jackson Ford is good value for what he is. He's not a marquee prop, he's probably on what, 300-400k, should be a bench guy, works bloody hard, apparently one of our best trainers, and even with Barnett out, still has an influence higher up the chain of command (or he certainly did v the Sharks). That's what he should be judged on.

Hmmm I don't understand league so I will have to presume you're right there...but it seems like a hell of a waste for a big body like Niukore who should be making dents in opposition, but just never seems like he wants to.

we were basically making the same comment about Afoa. I have to think that if he isn’t taking hit ups and he isn’t getting dropped for not taking hit ups, it’s because he is being coached to not take hit ups

Hmm, not sure I've got 3,2,1s yet. Feel sad for Metcalf and CNK.

I've got DMs though, lol - Kosi, Niukore.

And Adam Gee. Glad to hear Webby give the refs a bit of a serve in the presser. Gee wasn't great all around, but boy he made some bad calls in the Broncos' favour.

My perspective is a bit better this morning, though. Last night I'd decided our season was done, that we were probably going to go on a slide and end up outside the 8, but now I'm more feeling like we just need to lick our wounds, don't take it too easy over the bye week, and we'll be okay.

Think it was @Penrose Warrior in the gameday thread who said it, but with the dominance that Brisbane had, we could've had a score put up against us. But we didn't, even after we lost half our first-choice spine. So that says a lot about this team.

3. Roger - a fine wine.
2. Fish - big and strong, macho man, stung by Moses last week.
1. Metcalf - he won't get points again this season and he kicked an important sideline conversion, just when the commentators were saying how poor he's been this year in that area.

Hm Webster - a fine whine (in the presser).

I'm confident we'll play finals but it will be close.

Was interesting to see how the whole team lifted when Roger slotted in to his preferred position 😎

Excuse my ignorance, but if he's not taking hit ups then his role is to be steady on the line + make tackles?

Afoa never really had a long game, but surely Niukore is capable of more?

Yeah I mean that makes sense.

Niukore seems to take more ball on the edge. I doubt it’s because he is lazy or afraid of contact
