Yep, that could have been a f**king disaster zone if he didn't bodyguard DWZ all night. I bet you he knew that going into tonight and nailed it. Huge game. Might get to play Origin because of itReally feeling like I didn't give Capewell enough credit now. He was babysitting DWZ on their best edge.
Might get him running up and down with a dog shock collar that goes off if he is more than 5m in from it.Yep, that could have been a f**king disaster zone if he didn't bodyguard DWZ all night. I bet you he knew that going into tonight and nailed it. Huge game. Might get to play Origin because of it
Big Marn made a great point, there's very little to recommend DWZ for when we don't have an attack that gives our right side winger space to do what he did in 23. He carries ok but far out I'll just keep saying it, he is just so bad on D. If I was Webby I'd march him out to the right touch line of Mt Smart on Monday, point to the white bit and tell him to f**king stay on it
3 - Capewell
2 - Clark - 72 minutes this week!
1 - Pompey - thought he made some pivotal defensive reads
HMs - Metcalf, Barnett, Laban, Niukore, Leka (agree with @Grizzman that we need to unlock him a little more), CHT
RTS rusty but still ran for over 200m according to nrl.com.
Wonder if DWZ injured again, as he only carried the ball 9 times
Thought Egan not quite at his best. Still racked up nearly 50 tackles, though.
Pompey was suprisingly effective on attack at times yesterday. Hes slow but he knows how to hit a hole and he can bust tackles with his size. Get Metcalf/CHT/CNK/TT trailing him more and points will come, he made a 30m break yesterday but didn’t have anyone to put away.I have the same ratings thanks.
Pompey is a beast on defence, and Capewell might even be better.
With those two we have the best defensive center pairing in the clubs history by some distance and best defensive Centers in the NRL.
Pompey scrambles so effectively, Capewell is less mobile laterally, so he uses his Forward sized body to crush the Center. It is nasty.
This is our best regular season start ever, if we have a strong second half to the year (lets just imagine the attack clicks a little more and we get lucky with injuries) with this defence the minor premiership is not out of the question.
Webster et al take a bow.
