HM Capewell deserved points as well.

Gallant and to my mind unexpectedly close but ultimately I feel we lacked a little maturity in the final 10. Some odd tactical decision making lost the chance to close the game out.

1. Drumroll please….JACKSON FORD

HM: Healey made several good runs. TMM had a number of nice touches.

DM: Boyd wasn’t great. DWZ’s defensive positioning was decent I thought, but then he screws it up with a ridiculous error kicking the ball over the sideline, and a high tackle on tackle 5 with 2 minutes to go.

Mixed bags - I am still not totally sold on Taine. He was pretty absent defensively for the most part and the effectiveness of his attacking contributions is variable. Halasima did some good things and some bad. CNK had a couple of good runs but the ball didn’t seem to come his way. Niukore got his hands on the ball more at prop but you’d ideally want a few more minutes out of him.

Played to defend a 2 point lead and got what it deserved. Take the 2 points if you are going to do that. Some real dumb tactics in the end.

3 - RTS
2 - Clark
1 - Capewell

HM - Ford, Healey, TMM, Pompey

Hope Laban's injury isn't too bad, and that Leka is okay.

EIT didn't look out of place in FG.

Tanah not great again - feels like he's putting a lot of pressure on himself

Ford still spent a lot of the game pissing me off but I had to be impressed by how he became more and more effective after already being on the field for 30+ minutes. At the 60 minute mark I had him locked in for points because he had just done so much more work than the other prop options and I was starting to think he was going to go 80. I almost moved him back to an HM only when he went off.

I do wonder if he would’ve put in a better effort than some of the others did on that last play.

Funny, in other corners of the internet I’ve been seeing a lot of people bagging TMM. Seems to be widely agreed here that he was good.

Yeah, I'm glad you raised this...there were some pretty average efforts on that last play. OK, it's the 80th minute, fatigue etc, hard to be too critical. But I felt a couple of guys could have, and should have done better.

3. RTS - played like a man possessed, bloody hell, turning up everywhere and causing trouble almost every touch
2. Ford - apart from the non-stop runs and tackling, the little efforts like pressure on the kicker stood out a lot
1. Clark - along with Ford picked up so much work that Fish/Barney otherwise would have

Was at the game, absolutely cracking spectacle!
Some f-kn pin-drop silence when the Phins stole it at the buzzer.

A pile of observations:
- Herbie was reaming us and we benefited from his freak injury, he stays on and we lose easily imo
- I thought DWZ had a good game and was trying his tits off, pity about that stupid penalty
- Klein was a disgrace. Phins offside all night and slowing down ruck constantly, robbing so much momentum

Most of all though, some of our boys looked injured and cooked; all night long I saw CNK, Healey and TT hobbling around sometimes barely keeping up, and a lot of the points scored were through them being unable to get around fast enough, leaving Roger and Capewell to scramble. I saw a lot of comments on social about how slow we are, but it really looks like half of quicker guys are carrying niggles.

If you were at the game keen to hear your thoughts.

It was a heartbreaking finish, but I'm also not too gutted because we showed serious grit to wrestle that game our way. I didn't mind not taking the two, but was disappointed weren't pushing harder for a try.
