Honestly, the only thing stopping Halasima getting 3 points was limited minutes. He was the most influential player.

Barnett just seemed to be in everything, very quiet achiever but countless times I saw him as the man making the tackle on our kick chase. In an arm wrestle that this was, he's EXACTLY what you need.

Ali unlucky not to get the 3 for me, if this were any less of an arm wrestle, or more of an open game then the way he was playing, he'd have got 3.

Another you want on your side in the arm wrestle.

Hon Men - Egan, TT, Halasima

Thought Roger was brilliant as well before he went off.

CNK, what a battler. Thought Pompey had one of his better games.

If I were to point to any weaker players, Vaumaga didn't have his best game, CHT had a couple of errors and the last tackle plays were in general pretty weak..he went a long way to redeeming himself in the last quarter though.

3 - CNK 30 carries for 314m. 95 post contact metres, 7 tackle busts and tons of crucial defensive work. Huge.
2 - Leiataua turning into an absolute weapon, he’s our #1 centre now for mine.
1 - Ford 148m and 43 tackles off the bench, huge effort.

-1 Metcalf. I thought he was shite. Hes not an NRL 7s arsehole. I think i would probably stoop to playing Sean O'Sullivan over him and thats saying something. At least SOS has some sort of a kicking game..ish. Bring in TMM who was on fire in the early game.

Need to rewatch the game as missed a bit due to power cut, but initial thoughts:

We kept them scoreless for 60 minutes. Yes, their execution was off, but still can take confidence from our scramble.

Ali is a beast.

Nice to see Halasima get more minutes. Thought the general bench usage was better, though not ideal having JFH and Barnett off at same time again.

Metcalf not great. CHT also not, but couldn't question his effort (as confirmed by his try), and he really shouldn't have been handling the ball so much as first receiver late in attacking sets - feel like he had more touches in important field position than Metcalf

This for me too. Grinding game and thoroughly entertaining despite the generally derp attack on both sides and our very shitehouse kicking. Ref let it flow very nicely.

And I agree with some other comments re Metcalf. His weapon is supposedly that he can run, but he couldn't find a gap in the Grand Canyon. Telegraphs his step way in advance, and steps into traffic.

Ford deserved points too, and Clark ran incredibly hard early, although missed Whyte for his try. Barnett always deserves points, he's a warhorse
