Have to have a dig at those that claim Taylor is capable of being a Benji on attack, ffs couldn't even pass the ball properly. Our dummy half should be a combination of Brown and Locke filling in.

I like Mateo to lock, too.

I think saying Cleary held Locke's development back is a bit harsh, though. I actually think not automatically being in the first grade side gave Locke hunger for the position, and made him work really hard at the defensive side of his game. On top of that, he was always getting himself in trouble (driving while disqualified--end of 2010, beginning of 2011-- other allegations, etc), so imo he needed to be shown a bit of tough love to get him to pull his head in (pun semi-intended).

I have no idea what Steve Rapira is supposed to offer at FG level. His lack of athleticism or general ability on attack have basically forced him to become a "prop", yet he's a skinny 90kg guy who has bulked himself to a size out of all proportion to his frame to get to a bare minimum size for a prop. When you're too small, too slow and not skillful enough you generally won't be much of a first grader.

I'm going to jump in your small boat (no homo) momentarily and agree.

Everyone raves about Steve's defense but tbh I feel he has poor positioning around the ruck, leading to jersey grabs and gifted metres. He obviously has a decent pass and can put on an occasional bone rattler (though I have yet to see the latter for the Warriors) but that's about all. He doesn't seem to make good metres, doesn't seem to have a huge workrate, doesn't seem to be a defensive juggernaut, doesn't seem to offer the mongrel he's renowned for. TBH, if he left our club tomorrow all I'd remember was a guy who missed a couple of tackles and got injured every other game. Which is a pity, as I am sure he's a nice dude.

Really, I thought Steve was ok on Saturday (and good VS panthers).
His stats are pretty much as good or better than most from Saturday.

His start v the Panthers was horrendous - missed first three tackles and they scored their points when he was on. Second half was fair.

I just think the balance of our side is all wrong. Bluey's hands were tied on the weekend with Luck back on the bench, then injured etc...but our use of the interchange has been awful. Steve Rapira playing 32 mins in the back row is of little use to us.

Probably because we were, and remain, short of props.

But yes I'd much rather see him running wide. Actually, I'd love to see anyone other than Elijah Taylor running wide.

Taylor has gone backwards in a big way. I know this sounds a little stupid but the best game I've seen him play was for the Kiwis against Wales, ran the ball hard and made great metres, didn't worry about those little dummys (and bad passes) and ineffective footwork.
