Just a load of spin to make the dt readers feel secure and fuzzy. Of course there will be no relocation, never was going to be, fix the refs? Yeh of course he will, it’s the teams and coaching that are the problem the nrl’s capitulation to media, fix grassroots nice one, how? Sort out suburban grounds, sounds good, just need to convince nsw govt to fork out $400mill more on stadiums that have one, sometime part time tennant. May be one new franchise, wow our vision knows no bounds.

You surprise me,I never thought you'd come out with such optimism LOL.V'Landys on news website has had a meeting with the NSW sport's minister, and the minister has stated he is interested in looking at the issues as he understands the importance of suburban grounds. V'Landys has invited this guy to the Golden Eagle race.
The guy has spelt out his vision FWIW; Footprint is part of the expansionary process.
It was in the Herald also. The guy gets asked what are his priorities."Oh PR reckons only expansion to Perth is necessary, as all the other stuff will just sort itself out.

Who says it has to be $400m by the State govt, figures in your head doesn't mean it's that figure.

Your mate Smith was here for a couple of years, and we got zero expansion ,and playing numbers continues to decline. He hadn't picked up a Steeden. We didn't get new stadiums.
They've all got their faults. And i don't need the Telecrap News mob telling me who is good ,bad or hopeless.
If V'Landys is hopeless down the line, the board and the fans will soon let him know.Just as they did with 3 amigos at Telstra years ago.

It’s not a question of “hope”. I’ll be amazed, very pleased, but amazed if perth gets an nrl team in the next ten years. I can see a Brisbane team coming in sometime in next 4-5 years and possibly a perth team a few years after that. The game is not visionary, brave or strategic, it is incredibly risk averse. this is what I base my opinion on, call it pessimistic if you like but history teaches us many lessons.

1995 was not risk averse, it was balls to the wall risky business!

The game has gone from strength to strength over the last 8 years. Are you sure that your not so peeved because its not improved in the areas you would like it to have, in that time?

Risk averse? that's a hoot. The games just put a $100M in a digital business, something you fail to mention know that its making millions each year. Look at the other mob(AFL) they have to spend over $50m a year keeping there teams afloat. Being a bit cautious and not taking unnecessarily risk might not be such a bad thing.

A pessimist is what an optimist calls a realist.

A pessimist is someone who thinks it can't be done and throws his hands in the air at the first barrier put up. A perpetual pessimist ,never gets out of the starting blocks.
They are not the successful entrepreneurs like the Bransons,Triguboffs, or Twiggy Forest etc.
Whining gets you nowhere, doers make the world go round.
Hillary would never have attempted Everest with that attitude.
I'd hardly put pessimists in the realist class.

I swear the only thing holding back this forum from getting behind a team in Perth is Perth Red and his "contributions" to the forum. I'm torn between really liking the concept but hating the idea of satisfying a whinging Pom.

I swear the only thing holding back discussions staying on topic about expansion is sharks fans with sand in their vaginas!

what he says about the possibility of a Paerth team seems very realistic to me given the NRL's handling of this over many years.

sadly the old adage about doing the same thing the same way rings very true when it comes to the nrl. After 9 years of hearing about expanding footprints and expansion, but not yet, you kind of get a little bit cynical lol.

Perth is just one of many issues.IOW it's not all about Perth.Moaning about one does nothing about the totality. One cannot live on problems of the past.else you stay stuck in the mud.He doesn't give a stuff about other clubs survival.
Money is the major issue, ensuring it's there and growing. Then you can act on the issues involved.

The club you continuously bag has made efforts to create a self sustaining club, with the possible addition (already agreed by their board the Kareela Golf club ,another source of revenue.
All you can come up with is negativity,SFA resolutions, lack of understanding of transport issues in Sydney.
Anyone can bitch it's easy and offer nothing ."Staying on topic" LOL coming from you,the bleeding irony.
Resolving issues requires effort.

Spot on. The talk is always the same...

* I think a team in x makes a lot of sense.
* We need to ensure the financial stability of existing clubs first.
* The NRL is playing more games in y this season than ever before.
* It's great that a showpiece for the game (origin/test match/9s) is being held in Z this season.
* To be honest, the previous administration hasn't done any ground-work on expansion.. so we're gonna need to compile a report before we decide to do anything.

And as far as any real progress on expanding the NRL goes? Well...

haha youve got the nrl script down pat. This (latest) expansion review is supposed to be ready for December, let’s see if we hear anything or if it’s the same rhetoric you’ve posted.

It would be funny if the expansion-paralysis wasn't so serious.

You can just about put together a 'bingo board' of all the commonly stated non-expansion excuses that run as far back as Gallop (hell even before).

Oh, I can hear some say "Hey, but what about the Titans?".

Well, firstly if Souths had been banished for good, and the competition was 14 teams then the NRL would probably have never even added the Titans - such is the post-war lack of appetite for expansion. An expansion team was only added in the 2000s IMO to avoid an awkward 15 team comp with weekly byes. And that's before the process that decided on the Titans (all the impression of a knee-jerk response to AFL sniffing around the area) over strong Perth and Central Coast bids.
