The 3 things that killed us?

1) Poor defence

2) Lack of consistency

3) Players playing below par.

You know what i would like to see!

Jamie Lyon get off the right side of the field alittle more. Just like Ryan Girdler getting into a more involve ball playing role when the ball is nowhere near his side of the field. After all Jamie is the best player in this team. He needs to touch the ball 15 times + a game.

"1. The halves debacle: Greene was as good as we all expected. None of us could have expected Dykes could fall from form so quickly. When finally a winning combination in the halves was found, it was changed in the two most important rounds of the season."

I thought Green was going to be great - a former SoO halfback with experience and talent? I thought he'd go great - and he nearly found great form, before injury ruined him. Our halves combo was never the biggest issue anyway.

"2. The constant position swaps: Players were chopping and changing all year. How could they develop a combination?"

True. But combos aren't 100% effective all the time either.

"3: The annual mass exit of players: If other teams can hold on to their players, it's time for parra to learn how. If other teams are cheating, Parra needs to learn how to cheat."

That is not an excuse. And please tell me you are drugged. I would rather win a billion HONEST Wooden Spoons than win Premierships by cheating.

"I know that the biggest difficulty for the eels was the extraordinary amount of injuries they had this year, but I think these factors didn't help."

Maybe the injuries are due to the fact the team is not coached properly in terms of match fitness and stamina.

Fair call. I would like to see Vaeliki get mall ball also. I would consider moving him to lock

:D
you need to fill that with about 1000 more words for it to be the misty bee answer

my 3 things:

too much one out crap
poor kicking game
no intensity in defense

the one out crap was a BS tactic!..if you dont pass the ball theres less chance of dropping it!....what a sad tactic from a SAD coach!

Yep, I'd love to see him get more ball.

I'd rather run last for the rest of our existance. Each and every single year.

I'd rather them not play..... and that coming from me is a huge huge call.

I have to agree with you Colonel.

What goes around, comes around.

Despite having all that mony in the chookpen, thay still could not buy a premiership.

I can only think of one really and thats INJURIES!. Injuries killed Parra in the first half of the year.... not much you can do about that. In 2001 Parra only had 1 injury all year.

what about the panthers!!!
If there whole team jumped off a building they still would all be fit to play next week. They could buy an injury! Thats how lucky they were all season!

Yeah pazza, thats true, but over the last two years they had their share of injuries for the decade.

I agree with i think it was freak who said our lack of 2nd phase play. very true.

We need a winger or fullback who will come into the centre of the ground and follow the forawds and halfs and pick up on tiring inside defense.

The 3 things which killed Parra this year where

1. Motivation
2. Coaching tactics (recruitment & selection, innovations, attention to detial
3. Injuries

The Above are the 3 things are also the things that will need to be rectified for us to have any chance of making the 8!!

I ackwonledge that injuries do occur sometimes to just bad luck but??....alot of injuries occur due to athletes who aren't at there "physical peek", extra strength work needed in the gym i feel....we seem to be a small side!!

True point there, but our injuries weren't normal injuries. Neither Caylo's snapped arm nor Hindy's crushed ankle would have been stopped by strength or conditioning, they were just shithouse luck.

But what was worse was the length of the injuries. First we heard they'd be out for like 6 weeks, bu after 4 that was put back to 8, or 10, then by 10 that went to 12, 14, etc until it was like 4 months that they were out.

We didn't have those "miraculous recoveries" from injury that the likes of Girdler had. Other temas had "He will be out foir the season" followed by "He is making a major recovery 4 weeks ahead of schedule!" and we had "He will be back in 6 weeks" followed by "He is still on the sideline 2 months after he was supposed to be back!" Kinda sucky

I'm still buggered how injuries to Cayless, Hindmarsh and Burt could make Wagon, Vella, Moodie, Hodgeson and Green play crap. The woeful backline defence v Canterbury, to 50 points v Melbourne and Canberra, the poor efforts against the Roosters - all due to poor performances by a large chunk of players ON the field.

Interestingly, something which no one acknowledges - with Hindy and Cayelss and Burt ON the field, we still played crap. When Hindy got injured v the Chooks, the game was gone. With Hindy and Cayless back, Melboring put 50 on us. Then Penrith put 40 on us.

Face it, we played shithouse. Parra didn't get value out of our 01 leftovers at all, save for Matt Peterson, and possibly Dean Widders. The real starts of 2003 were Morris, Witt and Hopkins. All new boys.

I shudder to think wha will happene when that trio settles in and plays crap like the rest did!

I was going to mention this!!

How come the injuries to our players are diagnosed as having 7-8 weeks out but they end up being out for 12 -14 weeks all the time....there's countless examples!!.....are the Parra trainers preparing our players properly??.....Braith Anasta had a bloody broken foot and was only out for 4 weeks!!!,

I honestly feel that the Parra officals in charge of helping players recover from injuries aren't doing as good a job as many other clubs trainers....Bloody Luke Burt finally recovered then broke his collar bone again very soon after!!......you cannot tell me his injury was properly held or the strength work he was doing on his collarbone was adequate enough!!

I'll give them some creatine & Glutamine that's what im on and the recovery from injuries & workout sessions are great!!

I reckon it comes down to the size of the forwards. With big forwards, clubs seem to have less injuries because, I guess' you have a lower percentage of players trying to play above themselves physically. Take brisbane for example. Sure, Gordon got injured at the end of last season, but their big blokes kept turning up. They have had some bad injuries in that club (Prince, Ikin) but I can honestly not recall a time when they had to delve into the reggies en masse.
