3P Promises

No, it is because Denis Fitzgerald has been taken to task for saying that he could not GUARANTEE the Eels would be in existence in five years, by the 3P candidates.
Can they give a ABSOLUTE, NO HOLDS BARRED IRON CLAD GUARANTEES[/b] ''a cross ya heart and hope to die, and spit on the floor pledge, with no fingers crossed ''

Well, CAN THEY?
And so they should have, a man with 30 years exp you can count on doesnt say things like and not expect to be taken to task. He's the Derryn Hinch of the NRL.
I believe we will be a force in 3 years on the field and stronger financially in 5 years.
You think they've gone into this to bring the club down?

Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't the Two Blues passed in at auction for around 4.5 million and after a couple of months Fitzy sold it for 3 million to that mob?

I believe that's the case, yes

one of the incumbants said that was reported incorrectly - it was actually $3.7m it was sold for .... but hey, the telecrap like to round down to nice whole numbers - its easy for them to count that way

AND what do you base those beliefs on. What do YOU know that Denis didn't when he made the statement. or are you operating on a wing and a prayer? With the World in a recession and a bees nut off being a depression, how can anyone GUARANTEE what will be the situation in 5 years!!!
Pull the blankets up over your head, the big bad bogey man (economy) will go away.
The Leagues Club is the FOotball Clubs golden egg..but wait there's more. All these sponsors are going to come on board. The ones that Fitzy and the past Board members couldn't deliver...wink wink nudge nudge say no more.....Join the throng "Crucify him, Crucify him"..You don't know what you've got until its gone.
When a bloke like Michael Cronin comes out in the Press and supports Fitzy, I take notice.
He is not involved emotionally as Pricey or Bert or even Terry, so I don't think he has any axe to grind in relation to the Football Club. Ray Price has made getting rid of Denis Fitzgerald a personal target. If he achieves that, what will he turn his attention to then.
Running a football Club in 2009, is a lot different to when Ray played. In the 80s there was loyalty..and both he and Bert showed plenty to the Eels. Now the loyalty of players is to the dollar. Players don't hang around like Bert, Ray Guru Sterlo Zip Zip....now they focus on what goes into the skyrocket because they are hawked around to every Club here and in the ESL, to Rugby Union here and overseas, to boxing, ice hockey, marbles NFL by the managers. The managers are the blokes who are making the quid.
I certainly don't think Fitzy is anything like Derryn Hinch. He is a man who is not frightened to put his view forward. Give me someone who tells it like it is anyday, rather than someone who sugar coats issues. They are the people I would like to be in a trench with.

AND No I don't think they have gone into it to bring the Club down.I admire them for having a go. But I hope they have gone into it with eyes wide open, and not as a personal vendetta to 'get Fitzy'. You can't teach the experience Denis has in the position. You can only get it.
Such massive changes and not a real lot of experience in Club management.
Now they have control of the China Shop, hope they don't act like bulls in it.
I am the opposite to you. I FEAR for the future direction of the Eels if Denis Fitzgerald leaves the post of CEO.

Pete just shutup, fitzy will be gone soon and we wont know until 5 years time whether the move was good or bad, crapping on isn't going to change the situation, and i've seen plenty of organizations and footy clubs improve immensely under a change.

I expect that Qantas and Commonwealth bank are making enquires as we speak to nab Fitzy as their new CEO.

you know you can come to the agm and ask that question of the board and df. rather than reading the telecrap and spreading rumours try talking to someone face to face and getting the real story.

i did and was told there were four groups who put an offer in. the highest was $4m but they pulled out and the lebanese group had the 2nd best at $3.7. to show how stupid the telecrap is it didnt even go to auction.

The property went to tender, not auction. The 3P propaganda machine had it sold at $3M and started rumours that there were tenders for significantly more.

Yes it was sold for $3.7M on a short settlement to the lebanese mob. It may have been valued for $4.5M at some time down the track, but a 20% downward shift for commercial property is about right in the past 18 months.

Thanks for the clarification KMP08, but why do you have to be such a dick about it? All I was doing was asking a question about something that was stated by others on this board and if memory serves me correctly, also stated by one of the 3P members too. I think that you need to learn some manners and understand that this is a public forum that many questions and differing opinions will be expressed that you may or may not agree with, but that does not mean that you should attack ppl like a dumb arse junk yard dog with no brain. You need to learn how to reason properly buddy!!!

First of all..biteyaarse.

AND vice versa....seen a lot go under also..

The dog has caught the car, now what?

Let them give an IRON CLAD GUARANTEE now that the Club will still be here.
Denis said he couldn't and was castigated for telling how he saw it!!!
Are the others not prepared to offer an opinion?

Whether its true or not, you just dont say things like that in public and not expect to get cop it, It was obviously said to grab attention. {mind you this was said way before there was to be any challenge to either board and before we all knew the true effects of the economic crisis as we do today}
If your employer told you your job wasnt guaranteed wouldnt you think, Geez if the boss thinks its that bad I better start making alternate plans before they go under and lose all my entitlements?
(Or do you think ah he's just trying to scare me)
You think thats what it takes to attract sponsors and high profile players?

I think DF was just rying to put pressure on the state government by saying what he said, due to pokie tax etc. by the way when is the next state election due to be held?

imagine telling everyone you may be insolvent, that would help people feel better, even if it wasn't true...............
oh hold on.....it would only help somebodys election chances.

Why can't the other club CEO's be the ones to make the stupid statements? Why did it have to be us?

I think it was a very poorly thought out scare tactic. Along the lines of "we are so screwed financially, you need me to get parra back in the black". It wasn't seen that way.

they aren't always stupid statements (actualy they normaly aren't). df seems to get quoted out of context a lot. case in point when it was reported that he said promoting rl in melbourne was like promoting beach volleyball in iceland. if you look at what he said before and after that sentence there was nothing wrong or offensive about it and it was a very valid point. some media outlets though took that one quote and rode it for all it is worth.

for anyone bagging df about this $9mil loss have a look at the reports and look at where the losses are. as an individual entity the leagues club turns a profit (from the figures ovo gave back in january). the fact that yes, there are higher pokie taxes costing us profits but a big chunk of that loss comes from our nrl side being over-reliant on the lc for funds.

i don't think df's position as leagues club supremo should be under threat. i do however think that control of the nrl side should revert back to the fc, and if the lc is going to keep funding the nrl side, there should be (if there isn't already) a separate board for not just the lc and fc, but also the nrl club. and that board be made up of reps from the lc and fc boards.
