Here is an interesting podcast from the BBC made in the lunch break comparing Smith and Bradman

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p05r90vm

They point out they have quite a similar pickup. Smith a little more over the top. Both with a step across (smiths much larger) and both starting their bat out quite wide towards gully (smith a little bit wider) before they bring the bat down more or less straight.

They found an interesting quote by bradman where he basically said "i dont really care about style all i care about is runs" and I think Smith is a believer in that.

Watching highlights from that Ashes 05 series still hurts. Lets keep crushing these pieces of shit.
Oath. The Aussies always get labelled as arrogant and dickheads but f**k me Strauss, KP and Trescothick had us covered as do their current crop of day walkers with massive chips on their shoulders. Hope we grind them into the dirt and don’t stop.

Smith was pretty knackered towards the end there but still didn't throw his wicket away. Hope the rest of the team were watching closely. Good chance for a triple ton if the weather holds out but I've got a feeling when he gets to 250 and Marsh 200 he might declare. Hopefully they can score quickly in the morning and really rub the poms noses into it. Would be great to get to 700 by lunch and send them in.

Regards Smith - he's at a level of play now that he will influence and change how some of the current and the next generation will bat.

That's the biggest compliment that someone in sports can be given as on the field imitation by fellow sportsmen is the sincerest form of flattery. He will also diminish the fan/selector criticism and coach waryness of unorthodox technique incl grip, stances, and shot play at a level not seen since Viv decided to swing accross the line of the delivery.
