To be fair, it would be great to see more Indigenous Australians involved in cricket, just as it would be to see more Maori - but here the game doesn't resonate with many Maori, and I'd hate to see quotas which I don't think are the answer - in fact, I don't think there's a problem - just good to see some indigenous players at the high levels

England’s Test line-up has been rocked by no fewer than four changes for the Boxing Day match in Melbourne tomorrow as the tourists desperately try to keep the Ashes series alive.
The Poms have dropped opening batsman Rory Burns, middle order batsman Ollie Pope, and pace bowlers Chris Woakes and Stuart Broad ahead of the MCG Test.

The two batsmen struggled to make an impact in the first and second Tests.

Burns will be replaced by 23-year-old Zak Crawley at the top of the order, while a more familiar face to Australians – Jonny Bairstow – replaces Pope.

Crawley, 23, has been touted as a specialist for Australian conditions with his ability to play the bouncing ball, even though he has only averaged 11 in Test cricket this year.

His overall average isn’t quite so dire, but hardly impresses at 28 after playing 15 Tests.

Meanwhile Bairstow’s irrefutable dominance in white-ball cricket (his ODI average is 48) has not transferred to the longest form of the game, where he averages 34.

England has also recalled left-arm orthodox spinner Jack Leach and fast bowler Mark Wood, both of whom played in Brisbane.

They will join James Anderson, Ollie Robinson, Ben Stokes and Joe Root to form the tourists’ bowling attack.

So what time this morning on Fox is the replay of warnie getting Andrew strauss out for his 700th wicket on boxing day going to be shown.

I am guessing 5 mins into the coverage warnie won't be able to help himself.

Yeah i agree.

I think its just more the maori and indigenous kids tend to lean towards League, Union and AFL anyway.

You have to remember there are only 11 spots available to represent your country in cricket which is considered the pinnacle of cricket.

Compared to league where you can have a good lifestyle playing just first grade in the nrl and there is 480 spots available across 16 clubs. AFL have bigger lists as well

Obivously in New Zealand its becoming an All Black is what everyone aspires to be.

They have had a couple of maoris in Ross Taylor and Daryl Tuffey who would be the most recent ones i remember who have had successful careers.

Ross Taylor is Pacific, not Maori - have been a few with Maori heritage, but other choices prevail
