37 between our apparent big names in smith, warner and the dud show in a decider. Cant have such shit returns from those blokes and expect to win.

The glory boy Usman is not without discredit here. Dropped a sitter, is a fielding liability, gave it away when set twice in a row, and was caught for 6 when with bats of 5 to 10 years ago the horrible slog he played would have lobbed up to short cover for a sitter. Looking at some of his lack of footwork I will be very interested to see how he goes in England or India.

When the hell did The Big Dump become one of the big guns
I cringed when smithy announced him as part of the key three

3 of the past 4 games we have played in NZ we have been bowled out for 200 or less and in the other game the other day we were 6/180 before a giant fluke from Hastings, easily the worst Aussie team ever.

Been on about this for ages, but I really do believe the IPL destroyed ODIs

T20 cricket in general has destroyed 50 over cricket.

Miss the days growing up 20 years ago when pitches offered something for the bowlers, sub-200 totals were defensible, hitting a six at the MCG/over the straight boundary fence at Adelaide Oval/over the square boundary fence at the old WACA was an achievement, scoring a century almost meant your side would win the game.....the list goes on. A far cry from the recent Australia-India ODI series where over 3000 runs were scored.

Yep, right on both points. Another 'pretty' khawaja start and threw away his wicket

Ussie, for all his flaws, is a much better batsman than most of his competition

I don't know what to make of him. Flat track bully or genuine bat. He had an incident with ronchi in Wellington which was weird. Ronchi appealed for a catch off Santner, which was give wide even though it smashed Khawajas pad. Ussie turned to Ronchi and started having a crack at him for having the audacity to appeal. In fact he asked why like it was against the law for anyone to appeal against him. Ronchi replied me"because I thought you hit it, dick"

Lol...Khawaja played a poor shot, but that can happen when you're in great form. You trust your eye too much and get a bit lazy. Not to mention as a modern ODI opener it's basically his job to go as hard as he can

At the end of the day, form or no, he's in his 5th (?) ODI and has top scored over players with much greater pedigree.

and the Toyman

there really are some atrocious selections here, this is no where near the strongest team that we can field

Toyman has actually played some decent games for Australia.

Boland is at best a state toiler who had one or two good matches at shield level, and has been shown to be absolute tripe at ODI level.

Wade is the worst keeper/batsman Australia has had for at least 20 years. Everyone else we've selected has been able to keep well or bat well.

When your chasing 247, is that your job? Craft an innings and get a red inker guiding your team home with 5 or so overs to spare sounds like a good idea. I think everyone is underselling the value of batting sensibly.

Yes and no.

The world didn't see it as anything but mickey mouse slogging until India won the 07 World Cup and completely turned the concept into a farce

Since then the demand for sixes rocketed up and teams all around the world duly obliged and produced roads all day
