Australia bats pretty deep, which is important and a clear advantage on pretty much all sides bar India and, at times, NZ (Southee is capable and Vettori has been good but I think his batting is in a bit of a decline, fair enough given age). Faulkner and Haddin is a reasonable 7/8, I just wouldn't bank on Maxwell and Watto at 5/6.

Just can't see Pakistan winning unless Australia somehow collapse which is very unlikely.

Pakistan's batting isn't great. If they bat first I don't see them making enough runs to put enough pressure on Australia.

If Australia bat first I don't really see them containing Australia unless they throw their wickets away. They won't be able to chase down 300-320.

Maxwell to be a non-factor this game. Simply based on the pre-match wankfest that always seems to precede his worst performances.

Absolutely Maxwell has been great this tournament, but rather than just acknowledging that we now have a whole conversation on how he's revolutionised batting forever. Takes more than a month of good form to do that.

Well yeah its pretty over the top. The balance of the side has helped him. Smith and Clarke at 3 and 4 allows him to go bananas if they put in a decent innings.

It's just hilarious that anyone would think Maxwell was significant in any sense

I think it's kind of sad TBH. Thought his career stalled in large part because of the expectations he couldn't possibly live up to that was pretty much pushed by the media/commentators. He finally starts to come good and now we've got channel 9 talking him up like this.

Just let the guy bat/play cricket.

Agreed.

He's actually quite a likeable guy, doing a good job for his team, but is dogged by these f***wit commentators.

I think Australia got dis... But I also think if the Paki's can get a score in excess of 280 we will have an interesting evening.

The pakis have shown an ability to reverse the ball when they are defending... Especially if it gets dewy... They just need to be in the game long enough...
