Well, we can just about call it. Well done Australia on winning this series. I am a bit disgruntled about this match, but NZ have been their own worst enemies and Australia have been better. Particularly on day 1 of the first test- knocked the wind out of us and we have only really just recovered.

Finally bringing the quicks back.

McCullums captaincy has been awful this series.

Slater taking up Siddle again, can't they see he's done???

Who have Australia got after the West Indies/us? Would love to see them play India or South Africa to get a better gauge on where they are at. I feel like we have got that out of this series

We are what we are a very inexperienced side in a rebuild. Nobody thinks we are going to perform miracles but there is some potential there

Good signs, I think.

Warner, as much as I think he is a shit human, is a bloody tremendous opening bat. Burns in handy. Khawaja and Smith have big futures- obviously Smith is already a giant. Troubles in the middle, but Nevill looks like he can compensate for that. Starc is fearsome and there's a good crop of support for him as well

Those runs in the last two partnerships of the 1st innings by Nevill, Lyon and Starc have turned out to be the difference. Had NZ been given at least another 50 runs to work with (setting a target around 250) as a result of dismissing Australia cheaply and if Bracewell and Boult added a big more in their last wicket partnership before Boult tried to heave Hazlewood away, it would've been one monumental task for Australia to chase that down in these conditions and they would've been very vulnerable in the night session.

Best conditions of all the tests in this series. Retaining a bit of grass on the pitch has definitely helped in offering more for the bowlers (yet the dropkicks at the BCCI would have the audacity to call the pitch a greentop like they did with the WACA in 2012).

The day/night test on a whole has been a success, and I can see Cricket Australia pushing for more day/night tests in all venues (excluding Melbourne and Sydney, as those tests occur in the school holiday period and the traditionalists will want those tests to remain daytime events to be more appealing for families to attend). Although this test match is only going to last three days, just the first day's attendance alone (47k) easily exceeded the 5 days at WACA and nearly eclipsed the 5 days in Brisbane (52k), and tv ratings on Ch9 got 1 million+ for the night sessions on the first two days. And Thank God we don't have the 14 or so ball changes like the ridiculous situation which occured at the WACA.

All in all, well played NZ.

They've shown moments of brilliance in this series (e.g. Taylor's 290 at WACA), but I believe the series was lost on day 1 of the Gabba test, with McCullum's incompetent captaincy with the constant field changes which didn't allow his bowlers to build any pressure, and it was going to be an uphill battle after being down 2/389 at stumps on the opening day of a test series. Very reminiscent of England's disasterous first day performance in the 2002/03 Ashes.

Yep. As I said, this series is far more helpful for NZ than Australia. It is exposed McCullum's captaincy, Guptill and other aspects of our game
