Unfortunately after today's batting performance: The game has slipped away, like England in the Ashes 2006

Come on Boys, its set up for Punter to hit a Innings that no one in cricket will ever forget.

I say they set us 497 for Victory

1. Cowen (8)
2. Warner (77)
3. Watson (25)
4. Ponting (185*)
5. Clarke (48)
6. Hussey (39)
7. Wade (57)
8. Hastings (36)
9. Johnson (22*)

SA to declare/get bowled out at 700 ahead and ponting to hit the winning run on 299* to make his maiden triple century and win the test for australia with the biggest run chase of all time...

yeah we are pretty f**ked. 300 runs behind at day 2 and they have 8 wickets in hand...we should have won that last test.

Australia plays their 2nd string pace attack in their biggest game of Test cricket since the last Ashes, hats off to you Australia, hats off.

We are f**ked. To have any chance of winning we would need to take 8/100 this morning and bat the best we have batted for years to win this match. A debacle of a day yesterday no doubt. I don't think we are deserving of the number 1 position so the lose could be a blessing. Of course if we win we deserve it because it will have been something special. ALso gee John Hastings is shit. So many better options but they pick a bloke bowling military mediums with an 80 metre run up. What a joke.

Is it even our 2nd string attack???? Starc was next cab of the rank but i would of had at least 5 or 6 other bowlers ahead of Shitchell and Pastings. I mean we are only getting rid of Ponting because he finally saw the light if it were up to the selectors he would be around till the 2017 Ashes tour.

Everyone on here couldn't believe the squad of 14 they picked and we were even more dumfounded with the final 11. We deserved to get flogged and hopefully this will give the selectors and Players a timely jolt before the Ashes. We aren't that good a side and Clarke and Huss's batting has papered over some massive cracks. And yesterday's performance was one of the worst i have seen of an australian side in years.

Agreed, no idea why Hastings was even considered.. he bowls 128km/h rubbish that doesn't move at all, Johnson is pretty horrible, Starc is still pretty raw as well. I just don't get how players like Steyn / Morkel can play Test after Test and never get injured or have to be rested, but we have to rest our players every couple of tests for some reason, is it a fitness thing? Or are our selectors just geniused.

These guys get paid good money to play for Australia, they don't deserve to be rested after 2 Tests.

I also f**king hate our openers, I think Cowan has potential to be a "Solid" opener, but Warner is rancid, actually makes me feel ill to watch him bat against the new ball, he hasn't earned anything, he should be playing Shield cricket.

Team vs Sri Lanka -

1) Cowan
2) Hughes
3) Clarke
4) Khawaja
5) Watson
6) M.Hussey
7) Wade
8) Siddle
9) Starc
10) Hilfenhaus
11) Lyon

And if Hilfenhaus / Starc / Siddle happen to legitimately get injured then the POSSIBLE replacements should be Jackson Bird, Josh Hazlewood, Ben Cutting

You talk about Warner not earning his spot and throw Hazelwood in as a likely test match bowler. If anyone needs to earn his way it is Hazelwood. I am not doubting his talents but lets be consistent.
