To be fair, Warner had to play at that ball. It's not likethe bat was miles outside the body or it was a rash shot. It was just a great Jaffa from Philander, stump to stump and unluckily he nicked it.

If ever there was a game for Ed Cowan to stand up and really establish himself as a Test opener, it is this one.

And if ever there was a game to demonstrate why Warner isn't a Test opener, it was this one. He is as rash as our openers.
I agree with all of this.

Of our current top 3, Warner is not a test batsman. Watson doesn't belong in the top 3.

Cowan is a natural occupier of the crease. He needs to prove himself good enough here to face and survive 200+ deliveries the way De Villiers did in Adelaide. That's the sort of role he needs to play in this team if he is to be a long term option.

He might have cricketing gifts other players could only dream of,but Watson seems to have a massive lack of self-belief..

Sure he is probably the easiest top order test bat to get LBW,but he never looks confident..Even when he is dominating..He's always got that perplexed look on his face,& dodgy body language..

He is great to watch in full flight, but i never feel like he is in control,& the bowlers have run out of ideas on how to dismiss him..

Massive loss imminent, btw how geniused to the Saffa's look in their celebrations... Would love to see Watson clock Philander..

This. No problems with celebrating but the South Africans always look so awkward and when they do those "crazy eyes" and the philander death stare this morning type celebrations.

EDIT: forgot the great tahir celebration!!!

his last 10 tests (all under clarkes captaincy) averages 26.27 per dig

youd have khawaja or Hughes any day of the week over that

If Watson doesn't score a century on this innings then his stint as a top order batsmen should be over.

My tip: he'll get out for 57, review it, get told to f**k off and then trudge off the field shaking his head.

On his attitude: he and bitch Johnson are the same type of prick: they don't care about playing for Australia, they only give a shit about the rewards playing for Australia can give them.

 Spot on, even if he's completely and utterly plumb. Does it every time

We need him to get 10 times that average this innings..

I think the general consensus is he should be 6..

Read an article recently of his, how he wants to convert the 50s into massive scores, thats its time he started to do it, for the good of the side.

he wont get a better opportunity to walk the walk, right here. today and tomorrow

If you had to choose a batsman for this very situation, where on your list would Watson feature??..
