Good day of cricket. Fine century by Wade and then keeping like Kamran Akmal. Lyon unlucky but bowled well. Birddog continuing to impress and notch continuing to pluck wickets from his arse.

Good batting from Kuratarane and Jawardene. Great commentary from Chaps and Slats.

If SL can rustle up another 120 runs it could be an interesting chase.

So I've been listening on and off at work today and am mystified by Wade's apparent poor keeping performance.

Can you mob who've been watching please sum up exactly what he has done or has not done with the gloves today?

He dropped 3 clear chances off Lyon's bowling..

Then when Mahela edged behind it was another regulation keepers catch, but for some reason he left it for Clarke who had to pull out a ripper low to his left..

He then dropped a delivery off Huss while attempting a stumping that wasn't there..And then appealed..

He did score a very nice ton though..

Dropped a couple off lyons bowling when we desperately needed wickets, which should have been taken, probably could have let one go for clarke to get, but instinct took over and thumbed it, hence went passed clarke

Also let one go to clarke (off birds bowling) when he could have caught it easily, eye balled it as it went by,. commentators crucified him for this as well

also appealed for a run out, didnt have the ball, plus batsman was in his crease, granted it was the 2nd last ball of the day, but doesnt make it less pathetic

commemtators made a comment how the third string SL keeper wasnt heard off during australias innings, in other words he did nt stuff up anything

As Tubby Taylor had said "Wade has work to do", in regards to his keeping

Australia batsman Mike Hussey is unlikely to bat up order for farewell innings against Sri Lanka..

By Joe Barton AAP January 05, 2013 8:12PM

The Test cricketing world has almost certainly seen the last of retiring champion Mike Hussey.

A pitiful Sri Lankan collapse and Hussey's own reluctance to embrace the spotlight put paid to that.

The visitors' meagre 87-run lead will need a significant boost from Dinesh Chandimal (22no) on Sunday or run the risk of being eaten up by Australia's top three batsmen - let alone No.4 Michael Clarke.

One thing appears certain, Hussey won't appear in the middle until three wickets fall.

"I don't think Huss will want to go up the order to be honest," century-maker Matthew Wade said on Saturday.

"He's been really funny this week. He just wants us to win and he wants it to be his last cricket match.

"He wants to play it exactly the way he'd play it if it wasn't his last one I suppose.

"... But we'll try and push him out there, don't worry about that."

That means his last effort with bat in hand produced 25 runs before he was cruelly run-out chasing a quick single, called through by skipper Clarke.

That exit drew rapturous applause from a delirious SCG crowd, eager to celebrate Hussey's career.

They cheered when he wandered near the boundary, every time he fielded a ball and even when he stretched.

Every one of his four catches have been received with applause that rocked the stadium and, of course, he was given a standing ovation when he walked out to bat for what now looks like being the final time.

But the crowd wasn't satisfied.

They simply wanted one more memory of Mr Cricket.

And so the chant began.

"Give it to Hus-sey" sang out around the SCG before a chorus of boos rained down on Mitchell Starc for being selected to bowl the penultimate over.

But they got their wish, with captain Clarke relenting and throwing the rock to the affable 37-year-old - who couldn't deliver the wicket they desired.

"The crowd have been awesome with Huss," Wade added.

"It's been fun to be out there and watch him - he gets a little bit embarrassed by all that stuff.

"So the Hussey chants, he tends to shy away from.

"He didn't really want to bowl I don't think tonight. The crowd got him a bowl to be honest."

Hussey won't want to have to bat on Sunday either, but the crowd may demand otherwise.

I said this 2 days ago and I'll stress it again.

The attitude of the Australians this game has been very very poor. They came into this game expecting just to show up, roll the Lankans for 80, bat once and waltz to victory.

You must always treat your opposition with the utmost respect regardless of who you are playing.

If they take the same attitude from this game into India and England we will be coming home after 9 straight test match losses

if we need 1 run to win and a wicket falls , i somehow think Hussey will be next man in

though dont rule out us being 3/30 either...

Great days cricket today, great atmosphere at the ground too. Still gotta hate the wanker security blokes though. Slashing beach balls. Also where I was looked like they were trying to get a beer snake going too. Also there were a few who took the pink a couple of steps further and looked like Mardi Gras had come early.

Been a very good test match IMO, maybe not the highest standard of cricket but enjoyable encounter

Starc, repeat of other matches, bowl trash then look threatening against the tail.

Wade struggling. Batted well though.

So Huss is out of the one day team also.

He specifically stated on camera yesterday that he wanted to play add many one days possible, so he will be upset with that.
