Samuel's was a promising player once - that's about the worst innings I've ever seen from a test bat - yes, Pattinson and Lyon were bowling well, but like I said Chris Martin could have done that

Still remember when Samuels first played in Australia as a teenager back during the 2000/01 summer (one of the most uncompetitive summers of cricket) and like other Windies players such as Merv Dillon, showed a lot talent and was talked up a lot in the media but never lived up to their potential. All went pear shaped for Samuels with the chucking bowling action (which he got away with for too long), to the suspension with the bookmaker controversy.

But yeah, hard to believe Samuels has been around for 15 years at international level.

The ball is turning sidewards and the commentators are criticising the batsmen for been a little watchful...

bowled him! What a beauty from Lyon!

Haven't seen this sort of turn for finger-spinners at the SCG for many years. Maybe last test match was in 1999 when Peter Such and Colin Miller got a lot of turn.

SOK seems like he has a terrible run up. He loses all momentum. Nothing like Lyon's smooth movement at good speed.

And I heard Warnie say at lunch that a key part of spinning the ball is not holding the ball too tightly or too deeply in your hand. SOK seems to shove the ball into his hand hard.

The Windies defensive approach to facing spin really show cases how far they have fallen in test match cricket.Former batting greats like Viv and Lara would never allow a spinner to settle and dictate terms without at least challenging them.
