Rod Tucker proves two things, firstly why DRS is essential, and secondly that he is a numpty. Compton goes for the paddle sweep, gets a glove on it, Ojha appeals wildly for LBW, Tucker rightly shakes his head, Ojha decides if first you don't succeed, try again, and Tucker gives Compton out incorrectly. Poor umpiring.

Cook is now the top English test century maker and he past 7000 test runs. Fast moving towards top English test run maker. And he seems to be making centuries every match as test captain. Aaaaaand, he is only 27

i was about to say hes up to 23 and you would think he has a good 7 - 8 years left in him even at 2 -3 a year he will get too 40. Brilliant player and its a shame he gets at Min 10 Inns against australia over the next 14 months. i expect him to be on 29 by the end of that series

England play a LOT of test cricket per year, more than anyone else, I reckon you have to put him down for at least 5 centuries a year, which will get him closer to 60 than 40

I think de Villiers is a better batsman than Amla, Clarke and Cook. He was off for a while this year, but now that he has gotten the monkey off his back, watch him claim his rightful position as number one batsman

As I said, Cooky is the best batsmen in the world and by a fair margin too

Agree with Locky here

Cooky has been bloody outstanding for about 3 years now. Amla is also going pretty well, Cooky by a whisker for mine. Clarke has had a massive purple patch this year.

Thing about Cooky and Amla, their record away from home is outstanding. Clarkes no so

Cook became the youngest test batsmen to pass 7000 runs. Tendulkar might be playing for a million years, but it took him nearly 12 to reach 7000. It has taken Cook 6 and 3 quarter years. However, still 15 more innings that Cook did it in, because England play so much cricket. But the rate that he has been racking up the runs has really accelerated in the past few years. Pretty much since the 2010/11 Ashes. And now since he has become captain, he has scored a century each match and that is in India where he has done that without having one a single toss. Probably not a good time for Australia to have to face England in back to back ashes series, but I reckon that it could be an opportunity to forge players in tough circumstances like that

For those suggesting that Clarke is better than Cook

Michael Clarke

Home 3840 @ 64.00
Away 2833 @ 41.06

Alistair Cook

Home 3408 @ 44.84
Away 3484 @ 60.01

And as good as Michael Clarkes year has been, his 4 centuries have been in Australia on roads.

He has a long way to go to prove himself as the best in the game

Hmmm... there's a fellow called Kallis, a chaps called Amla and Sangakarra that warrant a 4-way discusson... then there's a margin I think...

I think it could potentially be the best time to face England. Because all purple patches and good form eventually slow down, for every player in every sport bar one Sir Donald Bradman and arguably Babe Ruth. I think due to Cook's amazing current form, he'll have to have a poor series sooner or later as dictated by law of percentages. Then again, Clarke falls in the exact same boat...
