Sinclair should have tried to convert himself to an opener this season, then he might have been able to get a crack!

first inning?? Fine, if you rely on a makeshift #6, your keeper and a tailender to score the bulk of your runs!!

Inverted commas deliberate, and NZ's 'batting' is more than a bit of a concern - it's appalling (only thing worse is Pakistan's fielding)... and I don't exempt Taylor from that either, he's been lucky and his shot selection is schoolboyish
fair call, but it matters more that you make the runs than where they come from and Vettori and McCullum both have averages around 30, so we know they can bat

Batting definitely needs work, but the side probably has the batting in it, just needs to work harder at it. At the moment NZ batting is not up to international test cricket standard...

I still can't believe some of the times he dropped. I remember him getting dropped after two test matches against Sri Lanka where he scored 70 odd and after a test match against Aus where he scored 60 odd.

Vettori into his 35th over, the great crusader is yet to pick up a wicket... in a second innings. In the first innings, the Pakistani spinner picked up 7. I reckon this is about the 15th chance Vettori has had to genuinely win a test match with a spell of say even 4-100, but he simply cannot do it. I reckon he's stopped bowling Guptill as punishment for outdoing him  While he has a better record than say someone like John Bracewell, I reckon Bracewell would have won 4 or 5 of those test matches because he was an attacking bowler. Vettori is too defensive and has a complete and utter inability to spin the ball. He's Dipak Patel Mark II.

Vettori atm looks like Nathan Hauritz walking in bowling his slow medium pacers. Even Guptill's managed to find something out of the pitch.

I hate how he came on yesterday when the two openers were still in and blocking the sh*t out of it and had a long on and off back!

Games evenly poised for tomorrow, Pakis 100 ahead and 6 wickets left. What about Umar Akmar gets of a pair with a 6

Lot to like about that kid... the talking to Yousuf was giving him after pretty much every ball was hilarious!

could be a fun day...

the Akmal brothers could put a huge amount of pressure on us...

we shouldn't lose, but I get the feeling that with this batting lineup any chase above 70 will be tenuous

Akmal's together now. Ul Haq out, stumped off Vettori's batting. Big wicket

The commentators, particularly Crowe, have been giving it to Vettori for about half an hour re his captaincy and his bowling

Now Crowe is doing something of a retraction. When Ul-Haq got out, he said 'Vettori didn't get him out; he got himself out' or words to that effect.

Yeah you never know with our batting lineup. Anyone who can bowl over 135 kph usually give us the most trouble and the last 2 times that Pakistan have toured we have had at least 1 major collapse on each of those occasions.

Vettori is possibly the most overrated bowler in the history of the sport...

Kanieria gets 7 in the first innings, Guptill gets a couple, and turns the ball quite a lot at times, and Dan serves up this slow medium drivel 45 overs and 1 wicket - pfffft

he'e better than Hauritz, then again, who isn't

perhaps - they're both about as likely to win you a test on day 4/5... FFS, Vettori seems utterly incapable of spinning NZ to a victory on any sort of wicket

no doubt they'll be saying "we should have played Patel", but I dunno, something like "Vettori should have turned the ball and got more than 1 wicket in 45 overs" doesn't seem unreasonable

 our media and public are f**king idiots at times. Only NZers would rate Patel. He's sh*t. Vettori will also be treated as some sort of hero by our media for managing to bowl 50 overs with the media wanking on about how courageous he is and how he is NZ cricket
