Sure a batsman then, I didn't realise Bavuma was hurt but I'm well aware of when Kalisz retired
Bit over so many teams playing very mediocre all rounders as a bat, Santner (or I guess like RSA a couple plus a keeper bat) Marsh etc
Yeah, again Safrica's slightly different with the quotas. If Bavuma's the next best quota batsman after Amla in Safrica - its slim pickings after him. Mediocre all rounders start looking more viable as against an awful specialist bat. Changes the context a bit. Especially with Maharaj often fulfilling one quota type requirement.
With the series wln already, a replacement quota player, was almost a sure bet imo. By playing and filling 3 Black Africans quota spots, they lessen the requirements for matches later in the year.
For those interested - its 6 black, incl 2 Black African, averaged out over the year. Vern is not Black African, just deemed as black as is Amla, Maharaj, Berhadien as was Duminy. Phehlukwayo, Rabada and Bavuma are deemed Black African. I assume Lungi is as well.
Also not sure SA often play a couple of ar's in their important or more challenging test matches. It seems typically to be 1 or none to me.
