Why would you make stokes captain? He bats 5 and bowls plenty in all 3 formats. Surely he has enough on his plate. Root is fine, this team just lacks some talent in the batting and fielding departments. They probably need a spinner who doesn’t just hope he flukes a wicket too.

Remember when England made Botham captain and he lasted about 2 tests.

I guess the question for Green is, how effective will he be on subcontinent decks? Because if he can't at least be a solid holding option with his bowling, he shouldn't be picked for those tours on his absolutely abysmal current batting form
