Funny how Hughes is left to waste in state cricket when he was in form and gets picked now even though his form should see him playing for NSW 2nd XI.
I'm sorry but IMO Ponting's days are numbered, he's so badly out of form and not getting any younger, however our selectors simply don't have the courage to tell him so

A pass score on this pitch is about 250, especially when you put the opposition in. Anything over that an Australia would have done well.

Seriously, what do the selectors see in the nuffie Hughes at test level?

Punter needs to move down the order, throw Khawaja in at #3 and pray Katich recovers from his achillies injury or put another youngster in at the top.

Agreed, Ponting should move down to no.12 and try to regain some form there.

That was a massive wicket Huss has carried our batting, i reckon Hughes is a very good young player but atm he shouldn't be there. They are doing him no favours by picking him when he is so badly out of form. And Ponting really should think about hanging up the boots. A shadow of the players that hammered the Poms 4 years ago.

This test could be all over within 3 days if this trend continues.

At least England are taking advantage of the condition of the pitch much better this time, stamping their authority early.

Thanks groundsman, nice work.;)

Revise my pass score down to 150
This is an absolute bowling paradise of a pitch

I think 200 could be a keeper.

No point in bagging the batsmen here, this is a bowlers paradise. Even Watson struggled to just get off the mark.

There's a difference between class and form he's out of form and didn't deserve a call up on form like he didn't deserve to be dropped on form. Hughes also has it in his head from the selectors and co he has to play a certain way rather than his natural way it's not how he plays and his form is suffering and the sooner just says stuff it and plays the way he normaly does he will be better for it.

lol Kiwis caring more about Australian when their own minnow nation is playing a match at the same time.

I completely understand the hate for Hughes from non-New South Welshman. He's out of form, and looking ordinary.

That said, you don't score two tons against South Africa in the same test if you're sh*thouse. You don't have the first class record he has if you're a mug.

He will score plenty of test runs.

What would you rather watch, a 20/20 or a test match? I hate 20/20's. Especially when the 20/20 has Pakistan in it. We're killing them anyway.

Marcus North scored tons vs england and south africa overseas, but many seem to label him as sh*t house without any fan fare

As a New South Welshman myself, Hughes is sh*thouse. Has been sh*thouse all season. Shouldnt be anywhere near the test side IMO. Was picked soley on the fact he was dropped prematurely, nothign else

Having said al lthat, there is one common denominator = selectors

You're right, he was dropped prematurely. However, he was picked this series solely because there aren't any other openers around. Fact.

Parraboy with a little objectivity, I like it.

How many people here have denied he is out of form? He is way out of form but then we get you and JJ and others come in trying to say he is just a bad player period he's not he is totaly confused about what he is supposed to do listened to too many idiots who tried to "fix" his unconventional style and it's f**ked him. He'll never get back in to form until he plays naturally.
