Watson may be injured. If he is out of the 5th test it will give the selectors an interesting dilemma.

On a personal level I don't wish an injury on anybody but if an injury forces selectors into making a selection that improves the team then it has been for the greater good.

If Watson is injured, I'd bring in Maddinson.

Hughes can come in if Watson, Cowan, Warner, Rogers, Clarke, Khawaja, Smith, Maddinson, Haddin, Pattinson, Starc and Wade are all unavailable to play.

Then Hughes come come into the side.

As 12th man.

hack.

 I'd be going Faulkner. Philly J & Mr Ed are just on a paid vacation now. Their test careers are over.

Unfortunately Maxwell and S.Marsh are scoring runs for Australia A, we'll probably see one of them in the squad for Game 5.

Faulker is already in the squad and will be his obvious replacement.

NoShows ODI form is irrelevant to the test squad.

Yep. Uzi has to fire in the last 3 innings of this series. Talent and potential aren't enough he has to score runs.

Seems like I went to bed at the right time

When australia had england at 3 down with a 25 odd run lead

Unfortunately Ian bell has proved to be a major stumbling block for Australia. And australia try to make it as difficult for him as possible, they try to snooker him, its like watching the crucible how he works the ball around

Hes just a genius with the cue, something Australia doesnt have at the moment. Is there an australian bat in the domestic scene who doesnt just biff the ball around? Someone who can work the ball into gaps against challenging bowling and field placements?

Faulkner straight in, Hughes, Wade, Starc and Agar round out the squad.

No need to draft anyone in.

No way we bring in a batsmen to cover for Watson.

4 bowlers are fine when you have the likes of McGrath and warne , but thats a luxury we can't afford anymore.

Personally id prefer henriques over Faulkner, he's much further along in his development. And hasnt done most of his bowling on a juiced up pitch.

But Faulkner's in the squad, so it'll likely be him.

Can we all unite and agree that Tony Hill needs to f**k off and never return?

I was about to say get rid of DRS. But while we still have clowns like Hill umpiring it has to remain.

It is almost obligatory to call for a referral when a call is made from his end. I honestly cannot remember when he last got a call right, its beyond comical now.

Australia had a chance at the commencement of Day 3, we were suggesting a lead of 60 to 80, or even 120 to 140 with Rogers and Haddin at the crease - Unfortunately they lost wickets, and the tail was nowhere as strong as the first 2 tests, where Messirs Agar, Pattinson and Starc could have added much needed spine.

When they got rid of the two recognised bats even before Australia got ahead (they were only 16 behind at stumps), there wasnt going to be much of a lead

The real issue with the selection of Lyon and Bird is if the top order dont live up to the hype (ie Khawaja, Warner or Watson) there isnt going to be much of a wag late on

EDIT In the old days whatever happened to Glenn Mcgrath saying he was targeting Brian Lara, Michael Atherton or Sachin Tendulkar (although Mcgrath never beat Tendulkar in India)? Wheres the banter against Ian Bell? Although Ian Bell's probably made beating up Australia a little pet project of his

I reckon Hughes in for Watson. Hughes to the top of the order. Warner to sixth. Combined Warner and Smith can do the job of a 5th bowler. I keep saying we need a longer batting lineup. Our bowlers are more than good enough, it is our batting that is frail over and over.

I am just waiting for the all in brawl that the bowlers must be desperate for with the batsmen. Seriously, on 3 occasions we have bowled first and got England out for reasonable totals and on 3 occasions the batting has been garbage. The only time England’s batters have dominated was the 3rd innings of the 2nd test.
