Healy is blaming the wags. What a f**king joke this is becoming. It's everyone's fault but the players.

Now Clarke is trying to defend the way we batted, saying that the conditions meant we had to bat aggressively.

Jesus Michael, just admit you f**ked up! We did NOT have to bat aggressively there, we had to show patience until the cloud blew over and the deck flattened out!

Time to go Clarke. The weight of runs he scored previously meant we had to put up with comments like this in the past. Just so wildly out of touch.

Took you 4 tests to realise what many saw 6 months ago. Past it, has been this year. Ship him off to the retirement village.

Bat agressively 1st morning...well done skip, showing great leadership...not!

Well the WAGS shouldn't be there! Why did these donkeys deserve time off after the 3rd test! They did nothing! They were worse than Wazn on a Good track lol

Why shouldn't they be there

Give me a good reason why they should! How about these overpaid fruitcakes do what they are paid to do and play good cricket without distractions.

If we get in a winning position THEN they can come.

Khawaja 73 and Burns 63* in the Aus A one dayer. Just throw them straight in the team for the 5th test.

Don't reckon the WAGs should f**king be there. I don't take my family away on work.

Still, it is a diversion. The batsmen straight up f**ked it from the outset. They, and they alone, are to blame.

It's a nothing issue. I read an article about Steve Smith where he said he likes his girlfriend there. We are an excellent side in Australia and the significant others are at those games.

In one day cricket.....for the last time can we not pick players off 50 over form.

Burns is potentially a very good bat but he averaged 28 in County cricket this season (that isn't me saying he shouldn't be in the squad, but he is young)...and Khawaja despite his love in here somehow is VERY limited. Works in Shield cricket but his issues are magnified in test cricket.

Haha. It wasn't an entirely serious comment. But after last nights effort and if the series is lost after this test it probably can't hurt to at least give Burns a go.

Look I would have had Burns and for that matter one of Handscomb/Lynn/Bancroft in the squad.

This idea that a bloke averaging 30 in S.Marsh will suddenly average 50 is ridiculous. Won't happen. Voges is even worse if that was even possible. Watson is a terrible test player, so why is he there.

Those 3 shouldn't be there. Pick 3 young bats. They can't be worse and we might find 1 that is test quality.

Lunch day 1

Australia 60
England 0/13

Still 66 more overs in the days play.

Either one of two things will happen

1) England will be all out (albeit will still have a 1st innings lead) and Australia will be batting again before stumps

2) England will be no more than 3 or 4 down with at least a 150 run lead at stumps, in which case we will need to bat at least 150 overs in the 2nd innings for any chance of a draw at the minimum.

Stumps day 1

England 4/274, lead of 214 runs

The first part of scenario 2 prevailed. Now it all depends on how much of a 1st innings lead England get. Either:

1) We skittle England cheaply and they finish with a lead of less than 300, in which case we have a slight chance of a win if we can score close to 500 (get a lead of 150+)

2) England get a 400+ run lead into the 3rd session, declare and send Australia in for at least an hour before stumps, in which case we will need to bat close to 200 overs to salvage a draw.

It's times like this where we are missing someone like a Steve Waugh/Allan Border/Mike Hussey in the middle order: someone is capable of anchoring the innings and steering us to safety. In Allan Border's final test match, Australia were in trouble at 4-down against South Africa during the final day (after clearing off a 150 run 1st innings deficit), before the great man AB himself and Mark Waugh were able to bat out the last two sessions to draw the series.

Can anyone recall when Clarke has ever come to the crease and batted ala Steve Waugh style and saved our sorry arses from certain defeat.?
The modern day cricketer seems to struggle to adapt to foreign conditions in test cricket consistently. The English struggle in Australia with the pace and bounce while the Australians struggle with seaming English wickets.
While Root and Broad are doing exceptionally well you could probably predict Starc and Smith will do the same to them on home soil.
