Well done.

Note to selectors, stop picking blokes who have already failed.

if I do not see fresh blood batting, I am walking away until new selectors are in place.

They said we should go out and make history this game. So we did.
Shortest first test innings is history right?

Correct, very special effort that

Edit... shortest ever first innings in test history? Root also the first player in an Ashes test to score a century in the second innings on Day 1

We lasted a few more balls than we did against the Saffas in our glorious 47.

Honestly worst day of cricket from Australia I can remember. Even in the 80's against the great windies sides they put up a much better fight. These blokes are overrated, over payed lazy merkins who have built their reputations on roads and lifeless wickets where the ball doesn't swing or seam. All front footers bar Rogers and it has showed big time. Only Smith and Warner should remain in the top order come the first test in Australaia this summer a clean out is needed.

Well if ever there was a time to make a statement, all our guys get that in the second innings..

Bowlers and keeper excluded....the top 6 have to make the runs.

I also am not writing off Clarke...

Agreed. Problem is we've got the day/night test Vs NZ. Who knows what will happen there, then the West Indies come over. We poleaxe them, then everyone pats themselves on the back and says job done. We're back or something.
We go overseas get humiliated again, scurry back to the safety of Australia and think everything's fine again. So the cycle continues.

Does anyone know if when we're batting in the nets do our top order face a new ball? Serious question. Because last night looked like they had never faced one before.

Pathetic.

Sometimes the best thing you can do is to leave the ball. The funny thing is the longer you stay in the middle the easier things get. We've kept making the same mistakes in England for the past 4 ashes series over there now.

These blokes should give their match payment to charity.

England are just the better side in English conditions. When we beat them for a million years it was on the back on generational players who could adjust. No shame in this. I mean the drubbing isn't cool but look at the world cup final. New Zealand strolled into Australia without a warm up game and got belted. Conditions matters

I'd back us at home against everyone....most of the time. Kiwis will have a good chance against a changing Australian side IMO but I still fancy we will win.

I think what's worse is the likely lost to Bangladesh after the ashes. That's going to really suck lol

The Bangers are coming on as a serious cricketing nation though.

Won't be great to lose to them, but they're not the geniuss of the cricketing world that they once were.

Most charities would be too embarrassed to accept bad money!

I'm sure Bromwynn Bishop would accept any money donations if charities are hesitant...:sarcasm:

Well done to Broad and Root, you have to admire their determination to succeed, this pair could beat us by themselves...

for Australia or the poms? :p

What a dreadfull lot we are, then again we do have regular collapses like this from time to time, so shouldn't be a total suprise

The only way we can salvage any sort of pride (and keep the series alive) is bat out the match to a draw (highly, I mean very highly unlikely)

Got to hand it to the Poms their execution with bat and ball has been far superior on these decks. The K.I.S.S principle has worked for them, we have no idea what that is

I don't think there will be mass changes as that can easily fall ass over end as well, very risky. But at the same time due to retirees and very poor form from others, a few will have to go.

I personally would look at giving Chris Lynn a go. Joe Burns and Khawaja I like as well, hopefully both get another shot at some point soonish.

Im most disappointed with Voges.

Didn't he spend a lot of time playing county cricket (like Rogers) so out of all our bats he and Rogers have the best experience on these decks. Cant help to think that is why he was chosen, cause of English conditions as a big factor, otherwise if not for that Joe Burns would have got the gig, regardless of the runs Voges scored in Shield.

I have a quarter of a millimetre of hope that we can at least post a decent 2nd innings total to at least look like a draw might be a possibility

Reality is poms should regain the ashes come mid-late day 3 :(

Now Clarke is trying to defend the way we batted, saying that the conditions meant we had to bat aggressively.

Jesus Michael, just admit you f**ked up! We did NOT have to bat aggressively there, we had to show patience until the cloud blew over and the deck flattened out!

Time to go Clarke. The weight of runs he scored previously meant we had to put up with comments like this in the past. Just so wildly out of touch.
