No, you and Jason are just soft. Being married fathers yourselves doesn't really make your opinion more valid. Healy on the other hand was a successful player who lived these camps first-hand.

You don't see WAGs and kids running around during Origin camp, or UCL camps, or whatever.

No, they don't endure for as long as Ashes series, but letting the players regularly engage with their family OUTSIDE the camp is more than reasonable.

They get paid millions of dollars and overall enjoy a great lifestyle with their family.

If that's too much to ask for during the biggest test clash in the world then there's big problems.

I know this discussion ended a while ago but I think Healy has a point about the WAGs. Are they the biggest reason why we're losing? No. Should they be there? No.

Sure, grant them some free time together every now and then, but their presence in the middle of the camp is ridiculous. It's an unneeded distraction, not to mention the possible cliques that can develop within the WAG group itself...

I heard Merv Hughes on the radio today talking about Healey's comments about the WAGS-he remarked that in 1987 AB put a stop to the WAGS being on tour until after the series was decided or when or if they did join the tour they used different accomodation.AB likened touring to being on a business trip and few business men if any would rarely take their family to work. This mentality was also thought to build unity and team harmony, while keeping the team focused.
I think it is a rediculous to blame the WAGS for that inept batting performance yesterday as the players themselves have to be held accountable, but i can see a lot of merit in what AB introduced when he was captain to benefit the team overall.

If I sounded like I was blaming the WAGs then I didn't mean to, they aren't to blame for Australia's woeful batting preparation. But I see the merit too. Seeing your family a bit less than you'd like to is just a sacrifice that comes with being an elite cricketer.

Catches win matches!

Truest saying in cricket.

Obviously England will win but they're making it hard foe themselves.

I just assumed it was like this when touring overseas, had no idea the whole clan went away for holidays with them while they're playing.

I'm fine with the clan going with them to England, it's just their constant presence inside the camp while they're trying to prepare that bugs me.

I have this really fanciful hope that we just stay at the crease for a couple of days and slowly work towards 600.

I had a laugh at the appeal after the replay but I looked up from the computer because I thought I heard a knick as well. No idea what it was but I guess the English players heard it too haha

Since when did these filthy Poms learn how to field?

Next they will be bathing regularly and visiting the dentist on a semiannual basis.
