It was $320m. Thats what they all agreed on prior to election. Hence why the NRL kept powering forward.

The funniest thing out of all of this is multiple ARLC commissioners, Abdo and V’Landys, Cook, Saffioti and Albanese will all be sharing a corporate box together at the double here not even batting an eye lid at there events.

As I said, they won’t lose sleep over it. That’s business.
Albo’s last sporting event as PM?

So we've gone from a supposedly $500mil investment from the state gov to $55mil in reality. It's pretty obvious who was leaking to the press given it only helped one side. Never trust a politician.
Very stupid to put the expansion of our game into a pollies hand. Surprisingly it's not his priority.

Bears Chairman Daniel Dickson just sent a message to all Bears members about the recent news involving the WA Govt, nothing different really, the Bears are waiting on the NRL, when the NRL release anything official Dicko will relay it onto the Bears members.
With the WA NRL double header this coming weekend, both parties need to meet, whether that is a positive or a negative for the Perth Bears time will tell.

I'm glad your happy that some corporate fat cats will be happy eating prawn sandwiches.

Rugby League is the loser here.
Is it? The game knows its worth and won’t settle for less. The games had decades of having no balls and settling for peanuts, or over committing its resources prior to that period, or not understanding its true value.

I’m not happy that things are transpiring the way that they are but I also can’t begrudge the NRL or the WA Gov for their respective stances.

People being over emotional will get them no where, I learnt my lesson 15 years ago with the Central Coast Bears bid. Some didn’t.

Cook should have negotiated things better to get better value, if that’s what he wants. For example ie we will give you x amount of dollars but we want a magic round (as soon as QLD’s current contract ends), 2 origin games in the next 3 years, a test match and commitment that an NRLW side will come into the comp by year 5 which the NRL will help assist in establishing and assist in girls pathways for x amount of years. We will also upgrade HBF but we want 1 double header a year accompanying a home game for 4 years.

It’s not hard.

Have to laugh at wb, he carries on like PVL is god and keeps telling us that the NRL is the number 1 code, but then somehow AFL have scared them off from Perth expansion lol
I didn’t say Pvl is scared

I said cook is scared of the afl

The nrl is an elite competition

It shouldn’t accept substandard bids

If Pvl accepts this bid then he’s a dope

Mere months ago, the NRL was "flush with cash" and people were "lining up" to be involved in the game. Now we have Zero private bids.

And expanding to one of Australia's biggest cities is "too risky".

I'm glad you feel good about some corporate balance sheet though.

It’s unlikely there will be another WA government as RL friendly as this one, plus every year the Bears are delayed in being brought back, the less viable the move is. RL is the loser all round.
I don't buy this NRL government friendly angle... politicians pretend to like beer for a few votes.
What politician will ever willingly alienate voters?
Very WA premier will be RL friendly until they're asked to get the checkbook out.
