Lol Warne rips into Smith for his dismissal and then goes on to say that Clarke got a fantastic delivery. He could never criticise his mate.

ODI cricket is different to test cricket...

The Australian team are good on roads ... any sideways movement and you're complete shit...

Warner and Smith are good players, but don't seem able to adjust - both have record that flatter them tbh...

Smith is a 40 avg. test player if he played 20-30 years ago. I don't watch him play and think "he's 15 runs per innings better than Mark Waugh".

He's certainly not this "best since Bradman" the media were proclaiming him to be after the double hundred on the bitumen road.

A good batsman; but incredibly susceptible on any wicket that isn't flat. Or when he isn't batting against the mighty Indian attack.

Blokes in their 30s get picked with Shield averages not much higher than their age. cough*Marsh*cough

Besides Voges nobody averaged 60 last season. Not so long ago you could be averaging almost 60 for a career and not get picked.

And these are numbers in the relatively easy Aussie conditions, flatter pitches, less cloud.

The issue isn't just batting against swing, the issue is long form batting as a whole. The skills have withered thanks to T20.

In a perfect world we'd identify the best technically gifted batsmen at a young age and they'd be focused on first class cricket and not allowed to play T20. Make T20 a specialist game with specialist players. But there's too much money in T20. No kids these days would want to slave away in shield and county cricket and not play T20.

yeah, not sure the averages are the whole story - Clarke has been lauded as a great, but as I have said elsewhere Jayawardene is ridiculed by Aussies yet his record is a mirror image of Clarke's. Smith has obvious technical issues, Warner is a strange one, but run a balls 50s are fun, but at the end of the day, in tests if you can't bat time you are only useful in some circumstances...

Probably a little early to write Smith's career off.

I also think the T20 is overblown. How many games do Smith, Clarke etc play in a year?

They are both going to destroy NZ in the summer.

Why didn't any of your batsmen score even a century at lords ?

Nobody thinks Smith is a perfect batsman but the amount of butthurt chirping after a few bad scores is ridiculous. When a batsman has a crazy run of form they can drop back down quickly because they are so focused on playing shots because they feel invincible. Cricket is a psychological game.

I think Joe Root is a very good batsman despite his obvious weakness driving on the up when the ball bounces.

We need Watto back, at least he makes 25-30 runs consistently which is better than scoring less than 10.

Why the bloody hell did they pick S. Darsh for?????

Shaun Marsh is 32. A 1st class average of 39. A test average of 35. He should never have played a single test.

Over here in NZ on green decks against Boult and Southee swinging the shit out of it??

The funny thing is Boult & Southee were better than Anderson & Broad in English conditions a month ago...
