Now that the series is over...

Stokes is an excellent player. Great bat when it matters. Shame he couldn't bowl in the last couple games. They needed him. I hope he is 100% fit and brings his best to AU.

And he stinks as a captain. Along with Baz they monumentally f**ked up in this test. Can't get over the morning of day 3.

The kiwis took on the same mantra in and around that 2015 World Cup period…. Walking away from a loss claiming moral victories. I’ve noticed during this ashes that the poms are elite at talking up their own feats no matter how average they are whilst failing to acknowledge anything the opposition do.

Forgot to mention, the "claiming moral victories" part reminded me of this Comedy Inc sketch (before KRudd became PM):

Poor old Stuart missed out in 2010/11

He did his adductor in the 2nd test and went home missed the party they had in Melbourne and Sydney that summer.
Ah yes, I nearly forgot about Broad's injury in that series. However, Anderson was there to enjoy the spoils.

I had just arrived back from Taiwan a couple of hours before watching the start of opening day's play of the series (when Siddle took the hat-trick). Absolute schmozzle of a series, losing three tests by an innings. A lot more to comment on about that 2010/11 series another time.

Interesting fact though, since the 1986 Boxing Day test, England have only won 6 test matches in Australia, of which 3 of those wins were in that 2010/11 series. So, England haven't won a test in Australia for 12 1/2 years now! Conversely, Australia have won 23 tests in England over that same period.

Surely this will be called soon?

4:45pm in the UK, still bucketing down and it will take an hour or more to get the ground ready for any play and surely the light will be an issue as well.

Well Jimmy Anderson hasn't won an ashes test since the 3rd test in 2015 at Edgbaston.

Played 12 ashes tests matches since has missed Leeds victory and all of 2019.

Didn't play at the Trent Bridge disaster of 2015 4th test either.

It's already started
I don't know what Vaughan has been smoking when he said he doesn't remember a test match when England completely dominated and bullied Australia.

He obviously doesn't remember the 2010/11 series, where Australia lost 3 tests by an INNINGS, not to mention:

- In the draw at the Gabba, I know the pitch turned into a road after day 1, but England 1/517 (declared) in their 2nd innings? How many times have touring sides inflicted that sort of punishment in Australia? You know things got bad when a part-time bowler (Marcus North) took the sole wicket

- In their innings wins in Adelaide and Sydney, England scored 600+ (declared on 620 in Adelaide, would've scored much more as our bowlers struggled bigtime in that game).

- On Boxing Day at the MCG, England bowled out Australia for 98. Once again, how many touring sides have done that in Australia?

So, I listed England's performances from 4 of those 2010/11 Ashes tests above any dominance Vaughan thinks England have achieved in this current test match at Old Trafford.

You've got a good memory!

Yep, Anderson only bowled a few overs in the opening test of the 2019 Ashes before missing the remainder of the series due to injury.

ROFL!

I'm just waiting for the moment the Poms see this radar and insist the ICC allow the match to be played tomorrow.

Sorry guys, the World Test Championship final was played last month. No day 6 for you!

When this series finishes 2-2 it will be more of a win for England than Australia despite you "retaining" the Ashes.

Aussies will have blown a 2-0 lead and have escaped another loss due to rain and won't have won in England since 2001.

Bazball hype will of been proven right after a sloppy start.
