4th ASHES TEST: @ Old Trafford, Manchester July 19-23, 2023

Why the f**k are they showing England highlights
Who knows!?! It’s all being Pom centric the whole series. But I could care less right now. It’s raining here in Sydney too and it’s a delicious sound. Once the umps call it, the explosion of English wailing and waffle will be unprecedented. Despite everything, we retain the Ashes. They can’t, and didn’t win them. BazBall blah blah blah.

True that it's fantastic the urn is retained, but I'd still love to see us win the series (i.e. either win or draw next test) so there can be absolutely no doubt that England were not the better team that Michael Vaughan insists they are.

I'm sure many of our squad remember the 2-all result from 2019 and will be very disappointed if history repeats itself (it'd feel like a hollow victory). Paine screwed up last time bowling first at The Oval after winning the toss

Yep, let’s just win at the Oval.

Some mong at channel 9 has Headingly Test from 2019 and even Pat Cummins shaking his head at an LBW appeal and Tim Paine goes upstairs for a terrible DRS.

I don't have PTSD, you do.
I still can’t believe Langer made them re watch that innings. It hurts me just watching it. We’re still horrific when he comes to bowling in those situations.

I think Tommy Smith (from here on the LU forums) must be the programming director at Wide World of Sports.

Would SBS have the audacity to show a replay of the 1997 Australia vs Iran match at the MCG in the leadup to the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers? Not a chance!

Paine's captaincy - most notably two blunders that resulted in England's two wins: negative, defensive field placings that were implemented at Headingley when England had only one wicket remaining still needing 73 more runs, and just as bad, electing to bowl first after winning the toss at The Oval - cost us a certain series win in 2019.

Although, if 5th test is a draw, we win 2-1 anyway.
Yep, I will take a 2-1 result any day after screwing up 4 years ago and had to settle for a 2-all draw, although 3-1 would really rub salt into the Poms' wounds (not to mention, extra points in the World Test Championship for the win)

Let's hope Patty loses another toss then.

He was going to bowl first at the oval in the WTC final and was lucky Rohit f**ked up.
