I wasn't impressed at all at the way we threw away wickets in the last match.
If we want to emulate what Australia did in their peak, we need to put matches like that away clinically.

Even contest at the moment, anyone's game and series.

Yeah, ironically I was disappointed with the fella that scored his second century in two matches - he should have finished it.

Openers due for runs now.

Not sure England can keep playing at this level - but time will tell - without Anderson, Neesham, Boult, and to a degree Milne we're down on strength a bit - but I do like Henry and Wheeler, and in a way good that Santner is getting a good run

Main thing is they were in control all the way through, didn't look like losing

4/284, with 5.3 overs left needing 21 to win, always in the bag

The few wickets lost at the end was more false pommie hope than anything else :)

England 0/97 after 10 overs chasing 350. Good even contest between bat and ball. :sarcasm:

England's batting looking good with their new fearless approach, and these concrete pitches... with Boult gone we're up against it

If both continue it will be interesting to see how they go against Australia's more pacy/potent attack

Well you want an example of being clinical? The poms today.

That said, these batting conditions are ridiculous, its not ODI cricket its Fifty50

Geez where'd you find Wheeler? Poor man's Adam Dale with the ball.

Flat track bully contest atm - must be Guppy/Mac time soon

Yep, Boult was a class above in these conditions - I expect Starc will be too - ridiculous stuff, but seems it's what the people want

I remember when 220 used to be a good score, these pitches are f**king up ODI cricket for mine.

It's just silly when a team that bumbled out of the World Cup suddenly guns down 350 like it's nothing. The attitude shift is one thing but getting so much help from the playing conditions makes it all seem very fake.

I still remember when India famously chased down 325 to win the Natwest Series in 2002 I think it was, I was in absolutely awe that they pulled off something like that.

As a kid, I remember Hadlee and Coney noodling it around to chase down 298 (I think) against the Poms at Adelaide - then a record, and astonishing... The look on Bob Willis' face was a sight, like he just didn't believe it was possible

Series has been a closer contest than I originally thought. Who would of thought after their world cup debacle the poms would pass 350 twice and score a 400. The pitches obviously help and both sides are not at full strength bowler wise.
The shackles after 4 games appeared to be released for England's batter's after bookworm Moores departure and picking players more suited to ODI.

The idea behind stupidly friendly batting conditions is more entertainment, but honestly I find 60/5 vastly more entertaining.

Yeah - for me the two special games at the WC were NZ/RSA and the first NZ/Aust game - opposite ends of the spectrum, but the NZ/Aust game was wonderful, not need for 350+ to entertain...

Does seem like they might as well play on concrete

There is so much more tension when every single run is crucial in a short chase. Tired of seeing bowlers legitimately beating the batsman..then have the resulting mishit sail 10 rows back..
