Ponting haters are a funny bunch. One of the greatest cricketers of all time in our team and all they want to do is bag him for everything. I'll never understand it.
...His batting has never been questioned, his decision making, and his ability to get his mates a game, regardless of there form (Watson, Johnson, Hayden etc) is what irks people about him.

Johnson needs to be dropped for a while IMO. His bowling has been garbage I don't think we can carryy him anymore. He needs a break at the very leaasy. Bollinger is going very well good to see He is a very likeable cricketer.

Anyone still calling Bollinger a hack ;-) Johnson seriously needs to go, I said keeping him in will only lead to him challenging Mick Lewis and that is coming true.

What can you do. There are some that actually believe he is the worst Australian captain ever.

Nice all-round game from Watson. Good knock from Punter as well.

Ugh Johnson. As you said he really needs a rest.

Give McKay a game for Johnson... he can't be much worse than Johnson with the ball this series (he bowled really well in CLT20 and has mastered the S.Waugh/I.Harvey slower ball). McKay is also handy with the bat, probably similar standard as Lee.

India are doing it as well. I suppose that is also Ponting's fault?

cause your a tree hugger

Nice win by Australia

Might be time to drop Johnson as 1st or 2nd drop bowler, when the power plays are over.
Hopefully Bollinger can make no11 his own :D

I will say this about the PowerPlay. At BEST you will get 10-12 an over off a powerplay, closer to 10. You get 85-100 off teh last 10 overs of a ODI anyway! I agree with Michael Holding on this one, there is no point in taking a PowerPlay late as the difference between what you can get and the usual run rate is not high enough. You take it early on, with wickets in hand, ideally straight after the bowling PowerPlay.

Good win though.

Good to see him proving me wrong.. He gets better the more cricket he plays for Australia IMO.

agree, and ive said this before

taking the powerplay in last 5 overs is not the most intelligent thing you can do, wickets in hand your going the tonk anyway, hardly any wickets in hand then youve taken the powerplay too late cause youve got your worst batsman in

take it when you have 2 players in form or are well settled at the crease, wether its at the 20th over or 30th over. Definately should be taken well before the 40th over imo

The latest it should be taken is the 35th over, that way you go into the last 10 overs in an attacking frame of mind.

Exactly and to be honest this is not a pot shot at Ponting, he aint the only one doing it. Sth Africa can afford to go later as they have Morkel coming in at 8! We have Hauritz..who even as a fan is not as good a hitter!
